  1. Rest would be good, but I think I need to go back a couple of days to balance. I don't feel centered any more, and that I've let the world intrude too much on what is important to me on a personal level. And I don't want to sacrifice the personal on the altar of politics. I think it's time to take a step back and reread Siddhartha again, maybe slide back into vegetarianism, clear my mind and body both in the new year.

Peace and love to you as we close out a brutal old year and start the promise of a new one.

    1. Back atcha, darlin'. One thing we've had to learn the hard way: Reliance on politics, or any other structure, take one only so far. Mostly, it becomes a substitute for avoiding the real dynamics of this society , and a way to get derailed from our own cultural touchstones. So we've long since relegated all of that to its proper place in our own lives, which is to say, never stop working for improvement, but also never let ourselves be misled into thinking that the structures and their adherents will in any way save us. There are no saviors in this world.

It's a method that works for us. It allows us to make a difference where we can, while never losing of the reality of the world. It's also not a popular view; this society is nothing if not a proselytizing, evangelizing one, on all fronts, and it doesn't take refusal to adhere to its shibboleths kindly. You won't find us in whatever movement purports to be a revolution, but you'll find us on the path, doing our own small part in what needs doing as best we can.

For now, we've got a lot of work to do here, on a lot of fronts, and that's where our outward energies will seem to be focused. The immediate issue is Cree, and we'll know in a few days whether we can still hope.

On other fronts, thank you for everything. The box - you might want to tape all the way around them in the future; one end was entirely open, but as far as I can tell, the USPS folks made sure nothing fell out. Even the saffron was there, which was a miracle considering that the cans were falling out of one end. :-D The picture jasper arrived at the same time, and the freebie with it was a smaller oval cab of picture jasper; I'll post a photo somewhere along the line so you can see what it looks like. And the books and everything else - thank you so much! I never thought I would like reading on a Kindle, but it turns out I love it. Most of our collective library is packed away in storage, because there's just no room here, so I want to get some of it in electronic format (unfortunately, for a lot of our Native library, they're not available in that format). But the one you picked up yesterday? I'm SO happy to have that 9along with the other two). Thanks, darlin', and a beautiful, abundant new year to you and yours, too.
