That haze? That's dirt and dust. If you enlarge the image, you'll see how badly the trees across the highway are bent beneath the wind. The storm is here, but it's all gale-force winds and dust, no rain. We got maybe a dozen drops initially, and that's all. 

the gutters guy was supposed to come out a give us an estimate on repairs, and didn't show. [The weather was bright and sunny then.] After a half-hour wait, Wings called and canceled, which let me at least get on with my work for now. One more thing in the works now to disrupt the day, and it's not done yet, so I can't get that out of the way. I hate having other people, especially in the form of businesses, to dictate my schedule.

All of it feels like a metaphor for everything else right now. Sound and fury and plenty of suffocating effects, but no rain. None in the form of sales, either.

And the expenses from last year and the first half of this year broke us so badly that we're way behind on every single thing now. Generating income is all that matters at this point, which means sales are all that matters. Wings redid the new cuff, so I expect to have it tonight, as well as a new wristband, possibly; sometime soon, he'll have a few new pairs of simple bezel-set gemstone earrings, too [turquoise, fossilized mammoth tooth, rose quartz, Picasso jasper all currently in the mix]. But apart from last weekend's sales and so forth, we are still way, WAY behind on this year, and I will probably need to make sales at a rate of at least two per week for the rest of the year for us to catch up [and that's just breaking even].
