Bluebirds and Blueprints

They say bluebirds are supposed to be good luck. I don't know whether that's true, but I do know that we've had at least one pair here for the last week, WAY out of season. Here, they are birds of late August into September, usually present for a couple of weeks, no more than four. Never in winter, and certainly not at this late date in the season.

And yet, here they are. And they seem to have brought more blue with them.

We have plans! Not finalized yet, of course, but plans nonetheless, and a very basic design that will work well for us. No, it's actually much more than that; it's going to be beautiful, wonderful, incredible. I can't believe it.

Our next meeting is scheduled for a week from Wednesday. I'm hoping that will be the date at which we can settle on things enough to arrange for the excavation work to commence. After that . . . provided the money is there, and the skilled labor, things have the potential to move very, very fast. [The caveat here involves the "skilled labor": There may be delays, since local contractors are backed up on existing jobs all over the county, thanks in no small part to a local governmental snafu that could and should have been avoided, but has screwed up jobs and scheduling everywhere locally. But "skilled labor" is a must; this is not the sort of thing that can be turned over to amateurs, nor will it be. This is the rest of our lives at stake, and it's going to be done right.]

So, of course, fundraising efforts proceed apace. We are so close to the 20% mark for the current stages of the project; only a couple hundred dollars more. So please share the link using the widgets provided on the page itself. Many thanks to everyone who has donated and/or shared the link thus far; if I can cadge some free time tomorrow, storm or no, I may finally get a chance to sit down to actual thank-you notes.
