Share Request for a Sunday of No Rest

A man and his dog. Masters of . . . well, you know the joke.

There's not much to it yet, in all honesty. Just for this week alone, there are the spiral posts and the vigas (the latter of which we're slated to pick out, pay for, and pick up and Tuesday), and the ceiling work. Then there's framing the second story, getting the roof on, insulating, mudding in, and plastering everything. There are also windows and doors; all of the interior, including the stairs; fixtures and appliances; and then that whole septic-system replacement thing, which alone will be a cool $7K, but there's no choice — the misinstalled old one is no longer workable.

So while it looks like we've made a lot of progress — and we have, no mistake; they crew has accomplished a hell of a lot in seven weeks for the amount of money we've put into it — we have a very, very long road ahead yet, and a very expensive one. And as of this morning, a great many more of the trees across the highway have turned. I'm convinced that climate change has blow the old patterns to bits, and that we're due for another very early, very hard winter this year.

We've had to shell out an absolutely ungodly amount of money on the house over the last two weeks. In addition to the house, we're going to have to cut and bale sometime in the next couple of weeks, too, before the temps drop below freezing and destroy it. The guy who runs our crew has the equipment, and he and the guys are going to take a day or two out from construction, with a couple of hired laborers, and get the hay in for us. Wings's knees can't take it, and that sublux of my right elbow several weeks ago seems to involve a tear now, which is affecting my ability even to do things like write, so I won't be lifting a hundred bales this time around. But, of course, that's more money out the door.

So. Nothing has changed with regard to the need for shares of our YouCaring page via the widgets on it. We especially need folks to grab the widget code from the lower-right-hand corner of the page and spread it around liberally. That will get you this:

We also need people to share the link to Wings's site. If you own some of his work and can offer a testimonial/personal endorsement when you do, so much the better. If you'd like to share that testimonial on our web site, send it to me via the site's Contact form, and I'll post it along with the image of your item.

Thanks to everyone for your support thus far, in so many different ways. I'm going to be flat-out running today and tomorrow; we both will. Wings did farrier work on all of Cree's hooves yesterday; turns out we managed the crack in her hoof properly, and it's growing out well, but she's got old abscesses from the coffin-bone rotation working their way out of both front hooves (a process that will be ongoing for months or even years), so that takes special management. Shade needs trimming today. And I'm waiting for him to finish up his latest work, which I'll be featuring at his site today (no, it's not a ring this time, but it shares aspects in common with his other new works from the past few days), so watch for that. I'll try to check in as time permits, but it looks like we might need to beat the rain here, too, so you may not see anything of me until late in the day. Here, "Labor Day" weekend is just more of the same work (only now, with added urgency).
