The next ten days are going to be a full-court fundraising press for us. We need to have about $5,300 in hand by October 17th, because that will be the cost for materials to put on the roof — and that is the date at which the crew expects to begin work on it.
This is not going to be a pleasant week and a half.
I hate chasing money. I hate it most of all when it's for us.
I don't have a choice.
There isn't anything that can be "done in the interim." Even if there were, it would simply eat up the money that will need to go to the roof. And there is absolutely no chance of finishing, much less of moving in before winter, without the roof completed.
We need constant and consistent shares. The YouCaring page widgets can be used daily; unlike some sites, they don't block you from resharing. We especially need shares via the widget code in the box at the lower right-hand corner of the page, which produces this image with the running tally:
We also need equally consistent shares of Wings's site. And for folks who want to commission holiday gifts, the time to contact me is now, because the creative process takes time, and he will be juggling multiple orders, as well as the need to produce inventory for the gallery for the holidays.
Yes, I know $5,300 in ten days is a lot to ask. I've raised more than that in less time for other people, so I do know that it's possible. And I have no choice but to spend my time at it now. The last two mornings, despite leaving the taps running overnight, the water has been sludgy with ice; we're well below freezing in the early morning hours now.
Many thanks to everyone who has gotten us this far. We need to push a little farther yet.
