Actually, they accomplished much more than that. Toney and José began their day at the lumberyard, hand-picking the lumber to replace the absolute crap that was delivered last week; more than half of it was unuseable. One of the owners hung up on Wings when he called them about it; this was replacement material owed to us, but I don't yet know whether we'll continue to do business with them.
Even so, the guys got the right-hand part that you see above done by mid-morning; by early afternoon, the whole back wall was up.
They got started on the shorter east wall, getting the first half up before the end of the day. Above, you're seeing it from the still open west side.
This is what it looks like from the southeast corner. We're taking as much advantage of unblocked natural light (and heat) as possible, with lots of window space.
So much yet to do, but the roof is the next thing. If all goes as planned, they'll be ready to start it a week from today (or possibly earlier, but they say there are a few miscellaneous things that can work on the finish out the week, giving us more lead time on the money-and-materials end of the roof stage.
So, of course, we need shares. Every day. Shares of our YouCaring page via the widgets provided, especially the widget code from the box at lower right that produces this:

Shares of Wings's Web site, which funds this work, too, even as it pays our everyday expenses. For folks contemplating commissioning holiday gifts, time is much shorter than it seems; Wings is in the studio every single day, and there is still a to-do list on his workbench. If you'd like to order something custom for the holidays, now is the time to contact me, so that we can arrange for him to take care of the design work and get it in his queue.
We were extraordinarily fortunate over the weekend — blessed, actually — with some generous contributions to our YouCaring page and a couple of sales. But we're still about $4K shy from being able to order all the roofing materials, and we're down to just over six days.
Many, many thanks to everyone who has aided us in getting to this point. We are so close . . . but there is still so much to be done. I will be swamped tomorrow, and we have clients who are friends visiting on Wednesday before returning to their home state, so I will be necessarily scarce. Thursday, I hope things calm down a bit, and allow me to catch up a little.
