More expenses, more workarounds, more dealing with the wiring mess.
Both bathrooms were miswired, as in the receptacles were put in the wrong damn place, and while one would merely have been blocked by the door, the other would have electrocuted us in the shower.
So.
The guys have changed the direction the downstairs bathroom door will open, and took time out from everything else today to pick up more 2X4s and frame out a short wall to backstop the door, since the shower will be right behind it. Upstairs will require a junction box and a striker plate and some new wiring to fix it. Meanwhile, I continue to lose hair apace, as I tear out new clumps every day with every new revelation of another wiring-related screw-up.
On the plus side, the hot water lines were installed today in both baths, the kitchen, and the laundry room. They have more work to do tomorrow on the plumbing front, and they won't be able to finish up until sometime next month, since we're awaiting fixture delivery (haven't even gotten to kitchen fixtures yet), and the guy who's going to build the shower bases can't do it until the first week of February. [Sigh] at least it's scheduled, finally.
All of this, of course, is hella expensive. And there remain the aforementioned kitchen fixtures. Also the rest of the wiring, the rest of the sheetrock, the interior plasterwork (and, come spring, the exterior plasterwork), the flooring, the woodstove installation (thank all that's holy that was already ours and the finance company couldn't gank it), the tile work, the cabinetry, the decking . . . andandand it never ends. I have to push this now, because the miswiring was too damn big a financial setback for us. This is a cash operation; no loans for housing construction on rez land. So I can't emphasize enough the need for shares right now:
- Shares of our YouCaring page via the widgets provided, especially the widget code, which has once again been moved back to the purple box at the lower right-hand side of the page, that produces the image shown just above:
- Shares of Wings's site; sales also fund the construction (indeed, they are the baseline for it). Testimonials help.
- I've added Lowes gift cards to our Amazon wishlist. Those will really, really help with materials costs from this point forward.
Thanks, everyone.
