The guys started the casing of the windows today. That's the first sill, above. They also felted the wiring in preparation for lathing the interior adobe. Tomorrow, Ice and Tim start texturing walls upstairs and Floyd comes to start building shower bases, while the crew does more on the windows. When they plaster the interior, they'll bullnose all the window and door openings.
In the meantime, I'm speechless. Avilyn posted a diary for us today at the GOS that announced a $500 match, and it's already been met with some to spare. We also received an incredibly generous donation overnight, independently of it. And so Floyd's work is a go, and the crew has a reprieve of a couple more weeks, anyway. If we can generate some sale sin the meantime, they'll keep at it into March, uninterrupted. I don't even have words for the gratitude I feel right now. I so want to be able to keep these guys working consistently through the end of the project, and this helps us do that.
Still, we will need consistent shares to keep it going. Even though the match has been met already, Avilyn's got some cool images in her diary, and a lot of info, so please go T&R and share it via social media. Please also share our links:
- Shares of our YouCaring page via the widgets provided, especially the widget code, which has once again been moved back to the purple box at the lower right-hand side of the page, that produces the image shown just below:
- Shares of Wings's site; sales also fund the construction (indeed, they are the baseline for it). Testimonials help.
- I've added Lowe's gift cards to our Amazon wishlist. We're having to spring for lumber, lath, and plaster material locally (some of the lumber and a badly-needed saw were bought today). The rest of what makes it habitable — flooring, paint, appliances, etc. — are coming from Lowe's, which is giving us the best selection and price, and therefore best bang for our buck, but it's still a lot. A LOT. And so one of the best, most immediate ways to help at this point is with Lowe's gift cards. I have three separate denominations posted on the wishlist, but cards in any amount whatsoever are useful; they all go into the same pool.
Again, profound thanks from both of us to the folks who have donated the past week or so to keep this going. As I said last night, what remains to be done (and it's a lot, frankly) can't be done by just anyone, and we really need to be able to keep the guys who've been so loyal to us and this project working. So please continue to share all the links above on a daily basis.
Thanks, everyone.
