Tony began shaping the sills today with the router. He does incredibly beautiful, incredibly precise work.
Meanwhile, Ice and Tim finished the upstairs texturing completely; it's absolutely lovely. We'd hoped to have them do the downstairs next week (which is really only bathroom, utility, and the inside of the pantry and coat closet; all the rest will be adobe plaster), but this week's work sucked up more funds than anticipated, so we'll probably have to bring them back later. Unfortunately, that means not until March, because Ice is going out of town week after next.
Floyd and his crew finished the showers, which need to finish setting. We'll have to paint them with RedGard to seal them; it's a liquid waterproofing mixture. That means picking up the RedGard this weekend sometime; more $$, natch. Wings fired the electrician today, because he's been jerking us around, promising to show and then not doing it, so finishing the wiring is delayed yet again, and I'm ready to scream.
We'll be able to keep the guys working through next week. Beyond that? Up in the air at this point. So we need shares badly:
- Shares of Wings's site; sales also fund the construction (indeed, they are the baseline for it). Testimonials help.
- I've added Lowe's gift cards to our Amazon wishlist. We're having to spring for lumber, lath, and plaster material locally (some of the lumber and a badly-needed saw were bought today). The rest of what makes it habitable — flooring, paint, appliances, etc. — are coming from Lowe's, which is giving us the best selection and price, and therefore best bang for our buck, but it's still a lot. A LOT. And so one of the best, most immediate ways to help at this point is with Lowe's gift cards. I have three separate denominations posted on the wishlist, but cards in any amount whatsoever are useful; they all go into the same pool.
As I said last night, I'm not sleeping much these days, and I still can't seem to get any time to myself to get caught up. Since the first of the year, the stress of this project has increased exponentially, and my blood pressure levels right along with it. The second fire, and the risk of it in the house due to the original faulty wiring job, really did a number on my head; the continual issues with the wiring and the mounting expenses are only making it worse. As much incredible progress as has been made, as thrilled as we are to see it finally beginning to look like a house, there is still such a very, very long way to go to make it habitable. So please continue to share all the links above on a daily basis.
Thanks, everyone.
