So, today I talked to someone besides Wings for the first time in two weeks. My s-i-l and b-i-l came over today — just a quick visit on their way to an appointment, and to drop off a borrowed Dutch oven — and they brought me this. Apparently, she'd intended it as a Valentine's gift for me, and it was not in bloom two weeks ago. Then we both got sick, and she's been waiting all this time to bring it by, and in the meantime, it bloomed spectacularly.

Yes, she made me cry. It's so beautiful. She said it was a present for my personal workspace when we finally get into the house.

Speaking of which. No, no progress on the painting front; I truly cannot believe how lousy I still feel, even though I feel a thousand times better than I did this time last week. I guess it's the whole age thing now. WE have made progress on the funding front, thanks to some of y'all who seem to be just relentless even when I can't be, and I can't tell you how grateful we both are for that. I am hoping that tomorrow I can finally return to the painting, too, but we'll have to wait and see. I'm no good to anybody or anything if I relapse from this one.

But given all that remains to be done, progress is relative. We still need shares, and lots of them:

• Shares of Wings's site; sales also fund the construction (indeed, they are the baseline for it). Testimonials help.
• I've added Lowe's gift cards to our Amazon wishlist. We're having to spring for lumber, lath, and plaster material locally. The rest of what makes it habitable — flooring, paint, appliances, etc. — are coming from Lowe's, which is giving us the best selection and price, and therefore best bang for our buck, but it's still a lot. A LOT. And so one of the best, most immediate ways to help at this point is with Lowe's gift cards. I have three separate denominations posted on the wishlist, but cards in any amount whatsoever are useful; they all go into the same pool. We're going to have to take care of the flooring very, very soon.
