Color plaster! One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

Sherm and his crew (his father, Clarence Sr., in the foreground; Miguel on the right on the scaffold) arrived this morning, and set about finishing up the scratch coat. They had that done by roughly midday, and after lunch this is what they started.

The distance shot isn't so great for color, but it's pretty accurate with regard to perspective. It shows just how small the house actually is; darkening the walls really narrows the room a lot. It also makes the whole thing really begin to look like a house.

This is the wall up close, so you can get a better idea of the color. When it dries, it'll be a little bit lighter, and the mica flecks will show up ever so slightly. It's one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

The dim light distorts the color this close; it's nowhere near this brown or gray. But this shot shows you how close they get in the hard-to-reach places, which is to say, they get right up into the millimeter-ish gap between the spiral post and the wall.

Again, the color's off here; it's not anything like that dull. But this shot shows you the bullnosing around the lintels and the window frames. It's a very old traditional style, and they do it all by hand, and they're very fast at it. Tomorrow Wings's is going to have Sherm give us a full bid on the exterior plasterwork, too. The only question with him will be time, since he apparently has full-time work excavating.

Today was just one of those days where everyone needed something, and I could never get upstairs to do the final red color coat on the spare room. Gonna try for tomorrow. It's a small room, so it shouldn't take much time — especially not compared to the amount of wall space in the master bedroom, which included the hall and closet. I might even be lucky enough to get it done in one day. I hope so, because Monday I have to turn my attention to a whole bunch of other things, not the least of which is figuring out when we can get the plumbers out, and how much we can spare immediately for the shower base tile and water heater and so forth.

We're okay at the moment on that front (although how long that will last is anybody's guess, given that we're in the final and by far the most expensive stages). So as I said last night, right now, the best ways to help are as follows: by sharing the link to Wings's site (preferably with a testimonial, if you have some of his work), because sales are gonna keep this thing rolling; and sharing the link to our wishlist (which badly needs updating), with an emphasis on the Lowe's gift cards, because those are what will help us pay for all the stuff that will make this place liveable, like a water heater and flooring and so forth.

As I also said, as far as folks in need of immediate help with donations. Lauralee needs help badly right now. So does Karen. Please share their links, and kick in if you can. They're both on much tighter timetables, and there are health and safety concerns at issue for both of them. We'll be good for a little for both as soon as we can, but right now, we have a $1,425 repair bill for the truck hanging over us that has to be paid next week. After that, I can calculate where we are a little better, and squeeze some out of our most recent sale for each of them, I hope.

I have a lot to do tonight for tomorrow and Monday; it's going to be a very busy, very stress-filled week here. Many thanks and much love to everyone. As to everything else, I'm going to keep saying this: It's time to fight.
