Lath, plaster, and custom color coats. Custom by me, yes.

Tony was alone again today; apparently Sr. has been in Colorado for a funeral the last two days. Tony got the ground-floor lath work done on the front of the house, and he also moved the receptacle for one of the front door lights into its proper place. As you look at the photo, the one on the left had been misaligned; the person who put it in place lined it up per distance to the window rather than by the distance from the door.

Meanwhile, this is what I was doing yesterday:

You can see the shimmer on the south wall compared to the flatter brown of the east wall. I got south and west walls done yesterday, which is sightly more than half the room; too many other tasks today to get back to it. I've had to custom mix the bronze layer myself, and even so, I'm thinking this one may require four color coats rather than just three, to make the net effect warmer.

Only one link tonight, to the wishlist for the Lowe's cards. I have to order interior doors and shower base tile more or less immediately; there's a lot more to follow. We learned today that, as blessed as we are by yesterday's developments, it may not go as far as we had anticipated: The hearsay estimate we got today on the exterior plasterwork was shocking, to say the least. We'll have a firmer idea tomorrow evening, since Samuel (the guy who provided our scaffolds during the winter and helped with some other work) is coming by to bid on it. It may be that the septic system is not the single biggest remaining expense after all. On the plus side, I finally slept last night.

At any rate, if your refund is burning a hole in your pocket, here's someone who could really use it. She's got a very long, difficult road ahead of her, and I'd like to see her and her girls and their dog have an easier time of all this than we did. From us, many thanks and much love to everyone.
