We're getting our bathroom tile! Well, technically, we've had the tile — since January, sitting in boxes. But now it's going up on the walls, and eventually on the floor.
It looks as though the exterior plaster might begin as early as this weekend — scratch coat only, at the moment, because it's all we can afford. We're writing a massive check tomorrow for the septic install; the plumbers ordered the tank itself for us today, and they'll begin excavating next Monday. [The septic system is $1,100 more than we were led to believe, which I attribute to carelessness on the part of the person to whom the quote was given (but who hasn't been running the crew for months now).] So things are moving forward, but this is by far the most expensive phase of the whole building process, the one that turns a shell into a habitable home, so we're having to watch every penny right now.
Which means more work for me tonight, especially given the week that's head (especially tomorrow and Friday, both of which are crammed). So, as seems to be the usual lately, the rest of this is mostly cut-and-paste. As I've said previously, there's one caveat WRT to the Lowe's cards: They can be purchased in any denomination, I believe (I think the site said $10 to $2,000). I had to select denominations, though, for the wish list, which is why they're what they are, but people can always change it to a lesser amount. It all goes toward the interior work. Anyway, links are here:
We're okay for a little while longer in terms of cash flow, but that will change all too soon. Right now, the best ways to help are as follows: by sharing the link to Wings's site (preferably with a testimonial, if you have some of his work), because sales are gonna keep this thing rolling; and sharing the link to our wishlist (which badly needs updating), with an emphasis on the Lowe's gift cards, because those are what will help us pay for all the stuff that will make this place liveable, like a water heater and flooring and so forth. And if you do want to kick in a few pennies, the PayPal link is here.
I'm given to understand that Karen has made, or mostly made, her moving expenses goal, and that Lauralee has gotten a reprieve from the court. I'll relink their fundraisers when their respective next stages occur.
I am so profoundly glad that yesterday is over for another year that it made today seem doubly beautiful, even with the wind: bright blue skies, wispy white clouds, nearly everything now green, and our first two dragonflies of the year. We have the truck back (although there's more to be done); the horses have all their annual/biennial/triennial stuff done for the remainder of the year; and once this week is out, I can probably turn most of my attention to the house. Many thanks and much love to everyone.
