Spring here now.

It's spring here now: Meadowlark's arrival yesterday sealed that. The snow we were supposed to get amounted to not much more than a little sleet and a trickster wind; we still have the wind today, if not the water. Rain forecast for Wednesday and Friday, though, and if we're lucky, they'll be right this time. Still. We know better than to believe it until we see it.

It's been a day already, and it's only half-over. Up early because we were getting the propane tank refilled today and getting the septic tank emptied, too. While the outside world stockpiles material things they don't need and won't use, to the detriment of everyone, preparation here is more basic: Buy enough food for us and the animals, enough basic cleaning and other supplies, for a couple of weeks of not being able to leave the house, no more. Check the vehicles and make sure everything's filled and running. Gasoline for the generator in case of power outage. Fill and empty everything that needs it, in case you can't get it done for a while. Make sure there's enough water and firewood. We go in to town as little as possible as it is, although we have three medical/dental appointments between us this week. After that, with planning and prep, it shouldn't be too much of a hardship on us if we can't go anywhere for a few weeks. These are all things we do routinely anyway, because around here, you never know what the weather will bring, nor what outages a crappy infrastructure will create. And given that we both wash our hands fifty times a day as it is (necessary in a place like this where the work involves so much that includes just basic dirt by virtue of being out of doors), some things are just habit.

Still, it doesn't give me any respite from the need to bring in income. On top of the pressures that accompany Wings's dental work, it's going to be costly for other reasons. Between the tow and the garage bill, we had to shell out $700 cash that I had already allocated for other expenses. That's $700 on top of the regular bills for the month, most of which are due this week. So I have to make up four figures' worth fast, which means I've got to start bringing in some scratch from sales, subscriptions, everywhere and anywhere I can, especially since we don't have a fix on Wings's recovery time from all this slated for next week. We need help to make sales; the links are here:
Please share everything. Thanks.
