Completed just today: two extraordinary new works by Wings.

I didn't make any promises about when these would be ready, because this week has been monstrous, to say the least. But thanks to a burst of momentum earlier, I can show them to you now — completed just today:  two extraordinary new works by Wings.

The first is named for the flowers he brought me on Wednesday, used for art, pigment, medicine: Indian Paintbrush. It's heavy, solid, a work of substance, and the natural coral cabochons are absolute fire; the stampwork, all freehand, is nothing short of phenomenal. The second one is water instead of fire, but medicine, too:

This is From Sacred Waters, a reference to rain and lake alike. The focal point is that spectacular cabochon at the center: freeform ultra-high-grade water-web Kingman turquoise. That cab alone was in the hundreds of dollars, cost. It's also large enough to have some weight to it, so he kept the band light: a single sheet of silver almost 1.25 inches across, but cut freehand, with meticulous saw-work, into four separate strands that remain united at the ends. Each strand is stamped with dual rows of flowering medicine motifs, and a scattering of small hearts accent the inner band.
