All right, Imma pester y'all one more time today. Because of this.
A little while ago, I got an e-mail from our doctor's office. It's been a certified nonprofit community health center for a while now, which means that it has a very large patient population of marginalized and underserved folks. This is also one of the poorest counties in the state, and with the pandemic? That has worsened exponentially for the most vulnerable folks here. But there's a way to help save lives locally now.
As some of you already know, we love our doctor (disclosure: she's not the one who signed the appeal; that's her partner in the practice). She's saved both our lives. They doctors are wonderful, the staff are wonderful, and everyone is working under dangerous conditions now to make sure that folks get exceptional care in a place not much known for that, at least for folks without major economic resources.
And so when I got this e-mail a little while ago, notifying us that an anonymous donor had steeped up to offer $25,000 in matching funds IF they can raise the other $25K between now and December 1st? We dropped $100 in the kitty immediately. I mean, within seconds. Because they have less than three weeks to raise it, and if they DO raise it, that will be $50,000 that is committed DIRECTLY to essential primary care for their most underserved patient populations during this pandemic (which is spiking badly here now).
Every dollar is doubled, so every dollar really matters. And yes, Wings and I are both asking you, straight out, to give. This will save lives. You can donate here. In the "note" section, you can tell 'em Wings and Aji sent you. And we would consider it a personal favor if you would kick in a few bucks now. If you can match ours, great; for this, I will juggle EVERYTHING to make it work. If you can't, as I said, every dollar gets doubled; no donation too small.
