Yes, Georgia, very good. You can thank Stacey Abrams and the Black folks organizing and getting out the vote for that. While you're at it, take a look at the percentages of the white vote, and don't bother getting back to me about white women being allies. Get to work on your fam.
Have you looked at D.C. yet today? Nazis and Klan. They've erected a giant wooden cross in front of the Capitol; ten bucks says they set that sucker on fire before the day's out. A new white woman member of Congress begins her public speech to the assembled Klan with "Hitler was right." Meanwhile, said Klan is doing what they've always done, which is rioting and indulging in violence and harming people, and the cops are letting themselves be overrun (as opposed to, you know, just spraying them with gunfire as they would if it was peacefully assembled Black and Indigenous folks).
Literally and figuratively, the world is still on fire.
And folks who are financially precarious are still suffering. New year, and people are still being thrown out into the streets, which is why I keep running signal-boost Twitter threads daily. I don't always have the time to RT them all myself, but I make an effort. Folks in desperate need of housing, food, heat, medicine and medical care. It's an abomination, but here we are, because this society's structure depends upon marginalizing certain populations out of existence if possible, into pathologizing and criminalizing them if not.
On the plus side, JoanMar has met the match, and she is already over 1/3 off the way to her overall goal; matching finds will put her halfway there. That's a beautiful thing, too.
And if you've been contemplating a purchase? Marking the birth of 2021 would be a very, very good time to do it. There's even new work, here and here, so please share the links.
