Sometimes the world draws a line for you.

Sometimes you have to draw a line. Sometimes the world draws a line for you.

That is essentially what's happened with this pandemic. The Earth herself said "this far, and no more," and still colonial white supremacy refuses to listen, and here we are. One in every 475 Native people, nation-wide, DEAD OF COVID-19. [One in every 7 in NM officially confirmed positive for it; our deaths FOUR TIMES the rate of white deaths here.]

This is on colonialism and whiteness, nothing else.

So we are busy drawing our own lines.

I've been watching, by turns bemused and enraged, as white women particularly talk about "back to normal." There is no "normal." Grow up. Stop putting the rest of us at risk. There's a word for that, and it starts with the letter "g," and yes, it's EXACTLY what you're doing. It's also not lost on me that a lot of these same people are the ones that steal from us daily, vampires ripping off our cultures and ways and identities. Colonizers busy trying to kill us, and they'll steal the land from over the bones when they're done.

Do I sound angry? GOOD. Because you damn well better believe I'm angry. We both are. I know white women think Wings is all "Mr. Zen" and I'm just the angry bitch in the the way, but the reality of it is that I'm the polite one. I'll read you to your face, but he'll leave you in tears. Because some of y'all? Aren't remotely interested in "community." You're vultures. And if you think people like Naomi Wolf offer anything worth platforming? Stay out of our way, and out of our sight. Also, if you think the way white Dem pols have been treating us is okay? Do the same.

"Community" is what's been noticeably absent from federal and state "efforts," which seem mostly centered around making sure that people don't get a penny more than they can help, all while trying to shove them back out into the public, unprotected, as fast as possible. Meanwhile, it emerged on Friday that the governor gave 8 of her closest executive staff massive raises at the end of the year, the biggest one  ($18.6K, just the amount of the raise itself) going to her PR flack, natch. And while no one knows whether schools are going to open day after tomorrow, she's completely AWOL on it. That's not "community."

Y'all could learn some lessons from older ways. You could also get to work on the actual work.

There is still no economy now. There's nothing. No vaccines for most of us, either. People are literally dying all around us from the government's failures, and I don't know how we keep them, or us, alive unless I can cover the bills. We have lost SO much to 2020, so very, very many people, and the gifts and the talents and the knowledge and the wisdom they carried too often lost with them. People have needed so much more help than we could give them, but we did as much as we could, even when it put us in a bind, and we will need to do much more of that this year. We have shelled out close to 2 grand over the last 2 weeks, $600 just the other day to fill the propane tank, which I was not expecting to have to cover right now on top of everything else. At some point, I'm going to have to make it up somewhere, and my Patreon still has nearly $300 in subscriptions for DECEMBER (and now another $300 for January, too) STILL UNPAID, so folks, please check your cards and the expirations, or unsubscribe so I'm not thinking that we'll have more breathing room than we actually do each monthSo:
  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here (new cleaning products on it needed most);
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.

And if you've been contemplating a purchase? This would be a very, very good time to do it; I've got to make it this staggering outlay somehow. There's even new work, here and here and now here, among other new pieces from last week and last night, too, so please watch for them and share the links.
