Feeling the drought in a big way now.

After three days of stubbornly refusing to alight anywhere, late yesterday the swallowtail finally let me have this.

We have had, over the last three days, the swallowtail, a painted lady, an iron-gray dragonfly, and an array of bees. Unfortunately, the only things in flower are the catmint, two stands of blue flax, and a little scarlet honeysuckle. We need pollinators.

We need water.

And there is none. No rain, either. [Not of the metaphorical sort, either, and having had to order a 6-month supply of one of Miika's meds this morning, on top of all the costs we incurred over the visiting horses, my own medical treatment, and the taxes? We're feeling the drought in a big way now.]

But we have to try to plant, and we have to keep at everything else, but it's getting more difficult (and more costly) by the day. So I need to bring in enough to that, plus the hay, and the taxes, and my medical costs, and and and and. Some sales this week and next would go a long way on all of that; as I said yesterday, hope is a stubborn thing. Also, I posted a new cuff two nights ago, another in his informal series of solid sterling silver vintage-style bracelets; you can see it here.

We're still hoping to put aside enough for a new well when the ground thaws enough to drill in the spring, too, Nah, we've given up on the well. No one's available to drill before the latter half of summer, and the tax burden means we would never be able to afford it anyway. But it's perhaps even more of a good time to make a purchase, because Uncle Sam is a vindictive colonizer, and my current stress levels about paying it all are off the charts. And there's lots of fabulous work, so please share all of the links.
