Sun and blues skies today, at least for the moment. There's supposed to be more snow coming tomorrow, and again Sunday or Monday. Good to see actual snow on the peaks finally.
If only I could take the time to enjoy it, but no.
I knew yesterday that the price the staffer at the repair shop quoted Wings over the phone cold not possibly be right, and in fact, it wasn't even in the same zip code, by which I mean he was quoting him someone else's repair. Ours? Was a smooth grand, a thousand bucks, and we had to come up with it in cash. Unfortunately, it's a necessity; 25 acres of uneven land and extreme weather, and the only reasonable way to haul heavy stuff around it, or to plow the snow, like now, is with that ATV.
::Sigh:: but I need to make some sales to make it up somehow.
It's looking increasingly like I'm going to have to do the same for upwards of another grand for a new fridge. What I thought was fixed manifestly is not, there's only one appliance repair person in the country and she's always booked months in advance and hard to reach, and I can't have water everywhere all the damn time in the meantime. Our kitchen is very small, and the fridge space is especially small; a 30" fridge fits it, nothing wide, no double doors or schmancy stuff. I just want a working ice maker because my hands can't handle trays anymore; other than that, I don't care. But it should last more than 5 years, and this one is increasingly looking like it won't. I still have the rest of this year's taxes to worry about, plus next year's and I cannot shell out another grand for a new refrigerator right now.
I'm so disgusted.
And I also learned yesterday, if I'm reading it right, that a $700 sale would wipe out one of my remaining medical bills, and a $2,800 one would wipe out another, so they're both less than I thought now, and my goal is to get them paid off in full as soon as humanly possible. It'll be one less monthly stress, or rather, two.
I can't even get anything done, because when I'm not dealing with a dislocated shoulder and all the pain that ensures from that (never mind all. my regular pain), I'm climbing all over the freaking place dealing with leaks everywhere. I have not gotten a single thing accomplished the last two weeks that I intended, and there's all the usual January stuff to worry about on top of it. This and June (or July, depending on how the bills fall in a given year) are always our worst two months in terms of expenses, and I don't know how this one's going to shake out yet. I've also got so much to do in terms of ordinary day-to-day work, but of course, I need to try to sell it, too, and already, our Web site hits for this month are down by well over 50% even for this time of year, which makes me worry that this year is going to be another bad one, sales-wise.
Because we will still (always) need to make sales, and there are plenty of gift-giving events coming up in this new year. But if you're looking for places to donate to folks who need it, watch this space and my other online spaces, because I'll be highlighting them in the weeks to come. Much of the country has just been through a deadly storm, and there's an even more deadly pandemic still raging, utterly unchecked; lots of folks in our various communities are going to need long-term help.
All of our links are here; emphasis on sales and testimonials for now (and subscriptions, if you're looking for that; I'll have more on that to come in the next few weeks, hopefully with some changes):
There's lots of fabulous work on the site (and there will be more to come for Valentine's Day), so please share all of the links.
