LOOK! At what's already under way! [And yes, that is Wings on the left, and yes, he is wearing a mask.]
This has been a day for the books: timing, cost, everything fell into place in a way that never happens for us.
First, we had to go into town to the post office to ship all of the weekend's orders; then we planned to drop off a scrip for him at the pharmacy and go grocery shopping while we were there. Before we left, we got hold of the excavator guy, and . . . the estimate for the worst-case scenario came in at LESS THAN HALF what he had prepared us to expect. No, I don't know how, either, but I'm not arguing with it, especially since it turns out to be the worst-case scenario.
Anyway, he had some slots on his guys' schedules, so he was going to call us at the end of the day to see about checking it out tomorrow. We'd been back from the grocery store oly a half-hour when he called early; they'd hit an obstacle on the current job that they couldn't fix immediately, so he was sending them over to us.
The bad news is that the guys who did the original install? Despite all the assurances we asked them for? Did everything exactly wrong. It's not accidental; it's not an honest mistake; this was absolute fuckery, but it's too late to do anything about it now, and state laws make it really difficult anyway [yes, I looked into it when I realized what they did on the plumbing inside the house]. That said, the tank, at least, is okay, and they can run a whole new line the proper way, on a grade that will work, and this time with piping and gravel instead of fucking infiltrators, so we'll have a functional system. They dug the trench to see if they could fix what was already there [HARD NOPE], and they'll be back tomorrow morning, weather permitting, to dig the new one. Depending on weather and gravel availability, it may be done by week's end or not, but it's under way, and thanks to the drastically reduced estimate and the success of this weekend's flash sale, we'll be able to write a check for the full thing when it's done.
We are so grateful.
Anyway, it's already been clear that this is going to be another chaotically busy week, and once again I'm very late with everything tonight, because see above. And we will still need to make consistent sales, even without such inducements as this weekend's, because there are still taxes ahead, and then there's the need, growing more urgent by the day, to replace my laptop, and eventually a wheelchair so that a trip to the post office or the store doesn't wipe out my ability to function for the ensuing week. It's . . . a lot.
So go look; there's phenomenal work on the site, both new and less so. Even with the sales from this weekend, there's still A LOT of incredible work available. And as always, all the regular links are listed below, with sales, as always, being the most important:
- Sales here;
- Testimonials here;
- Amazon wishlist here ( we'll always need the liquid soaps that I can't get here, the dog treats for the monsters, and Amazon and Lowe's cards [the Lowe's cards are probably going to have to go on a new fridge, so I'm hoarding them]);
- Patreon here;
- Ko-fi here.
After such a grim 2023, we really need to get this year moving onto a better footing, so please share all of the links.
