Existential threat.

Smoke plume this morning. It was there last night, too. Nothing announevd or reported, you understand; just the existential threat of it, clearly visible, hanging low and far too close for comfort.

Of course, the whole world is under existential threat these days; one glance at the news is enough to tell you that. There is evil abroad now, and your tax dollars are funding it.

So are ours, and the fury that ignites in my spirit is barely containable. 

We're both exhausted, and this added situation is not alleviating that at all. And that righteous rage is made all the worse by the knowledge that this year's demands upon us from every quarter have already wiped us out, and will continue to do so for the rest of the year. Meanwhile, there are no sales to replenish those outlays, and the other demands on me are relentless; there is no help for any of it, and I am at my wits' end.

Somehow, I have to bring in sales. This is what they used to call the drop-dead moment in a process or dynamic, and we're at it.
