Still got to keep pushing on all fronts.

Hot morning again. Might seem like an odd time to be stocking up on firewood, but this is when we have to do it, when it's still [relatively] affordable, and there's still some available to buy in the first place.

We're lucky; we're now getting all of ours from Tony, who supervised the building of our house, and who is one of Wings's best friends. So we get it at a honest price, and we don't have to worry about it being wet, poor quality, or a light load. that's the two of them up there, taking a break in the heat.

It's cooler now, courtesy of the stormclouds that produced exactly no rain, having moved from the west to the north to the east and now to the south all the way around us. But they seem to have settled in the south/southeast [which is to say, right over the burn scars from that monster wildfire] and they're whipping up winds from that direction now that are at least cooling it off somewhat.

Still don't want to be out in it, though.

And I've still got to keep pushing on all fronts now, especially sales.

As I said, Wings took the truck in, only to learn that it may set us back a minimum of $1K just for the truck repair, if the mechanic can't get Dodge to cough up the part # over the phone. He's still trying. [The idea is that you have to take it into a dealer, who will then haul the entire thing out from the engine compartment, running up bills into four figures just to get a number that Dodge already has on file. Your country is terrible in every respect.] We don't have a price yet; still waiting. Then there's the roof, and the guys are coming back out tomorrow to measure and tell us how much ProPanel sheeting we need to order for from the seller. It's gonna cost. A lot. But given that we're smack in the middle of the rainy season, it can't wait, nor can the truck ignition. All in all? It sucks. Each of those will be four figures [not just collectively, but apiece], and then there's all my imaging next month, just to tell me once again that, no, I don't have cancer [which is what I'm assuming they're going to tell me, obviously, because I can't entertain thoughts of anything else].

We've made a good sale, which gave us some breathing room, but that's already receding into the rear-view mirror, as you can tell. Truck, roof, some HAS to go on taxes no matter what, and some gets held out for my imaging next month. There's a lot more than that that it has to cover, starting with more medical for Wings at month's end, and it won't begin to cover all of it, but that's just the immediate term.

So while it helps right this moment, over the long time, it hasn't materially changed a lot of things. The expenses from last year and the first half of this year broke us so badly that we're still way behind on everything. I have four child bangles and a pair of earrings that I an optimistically hoping to get to tonight [unlikely; this is two days in a row of no sleep, so I'm not very functional], plus that other pair of earrings that I mentioned. He has multiple pairs of bezel-set gemstone earrings, two pairs of silverwork-and-stone earrings, and I think four new bracelets in the works, too, finally getting a chance to get caught up a bit on stuff that he's had to back-burner since last year. And I will still need to make sales at a rate of at least two per week for the rest of the year for us to catch up [and that's just breaking even]. So: Go buy! Please! Links are here:

  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here (Amazon cards are probably most useful at this point);
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.

After such a grim year, this one already even worse than the last, we really need to get 2024 onto a better footing, so please share all of the links.
