Way too close for comfort.

I walked outside this morning to see that:  way too close for comfort. Whatever it was, it apparently got put out, but it doesn't matter that we got a few drops of rain twice this afternoon, or that we might get real rain yet this evening. This morning was hot and windy, and that's very close, and never a good sign.

It's been a nightmare of a day, starting with the fact that cumulatively, I might have gotten one hour's sleep in the early hours of this morning.  Or maybe not. I've also had a pounding headache since 2 AM, and it's been nothing but fucking disruptions and demands on my time that have had fuck-all to do with what I needed to be doing, and everything is on my last nerve. It doesn't help knowing we'll have to shell out the next two weeks [and then thereafter, repeatedly].

Yesterday Wings took the truck in, only to learn that it may set us back a minimum of $1K just for the truck repair, if the mechanic can't get Dodge to cough up the part # over the phone. He's still trying. [The idea is that you have to take it into a dealer, who will then haul the entire thing out from the engine compartment, running up bills into four figures just to get a number that Dodge already has on file. Your country is terrible in every respect.] Then there's the roof, and given that we're smack in the middle of the rainy season, it can't wait, nor can the truck ignition. All in all? It sucks. The guys who are going to do it came out yesterday; we're going to have to cover it with ProPanel, and that's going to set us back four figures, too.

We've made a good sale, which gave us some breathing room, but that's already receding into the rear-view mirror, as you can tell. Truck, roof, some HAS to go on taxes no matter what, and some gets held out for my imaging next month. There's a lot more than that that it has to cover, starting with more medical for Wings at month's end, and it won't begin to cover all of it, but that's just the immediate term.

So while it helps right this moment, over the long time, it hasn't materially changed a lot of things. The expenses from last year and the first half of this year broke us so badly that we're still way behind on everything. I have four child bangles and a pair of earrings that I undoubtedly will not have time to get to tonight; another pair of earrings tomorrow. I will still need to make sales at a rate of at least two per week for the rest of the year for us to catch up [and that's just breaking even]. So: Go buy! Please! Links are here:

  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here (Amazon cards are probably most useful at this point);
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.

After such a grim year, this one already even worse than the last, we really need to get 2024 onto a better footing, so please share all of the links.
