A few weeks early.

That right there? That is why I've been feeling so extra-, extra-lousy the last two days. That's one of the aspens nearest the front door. Last night, the catkins were still catkins, a bit on the very-puffy side, but still round. Overnight, they dropped, and now we have caterpillar-sized pollen strands everywhere.

A few weeks early.

I go through this every year when this happens, because my allergies send my inflammatory response into a monster uproar, which in turn does the same to my lupus and RA symptoms. But it starts earlier every year, and because it's still fairly cold, especially at night, the trees don't leaf any sooner, and so it last for a lot longer period.

Ugh.

And there's no respite. None. As I said yesterday, I can't get proper pain management because of this country's backwards, hidebound, punitive approach to it, the same country that takes a cool third of our income while letting Musk and Bezos and Thiel and all the other escape without paying a red cent. We don't have credit cards; every. single. thing we have to pay for has to be paid in full, in cash. And this week, we have to write a couple of very big checks, both of them first installments only, to that same government.
