Not nearly enough cold. Way too much smoke.

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

Lots of color; still lots of green, too. Not nearly enough cold. Way too much smoke.

That last is mostly due to prescribed burns, but the haze is bad in the morning and the evening. I need to be masking most of the time when I'm outside; it was causing me a lot of chest pain last night [pleuritic, not cardiac; common with lupus]. I also need a break from the labor, because the result to me, as always, is a fairly drastic uptick in pain now, never mind the fatigue, but there already aren't enough hours in the day, and I'm always so far behind. Oh, and I said yesterday there were 6 local free pantries?  Apparently it's either 11 or 12, one of which is very near us, and apparently they cannot keep it stocked. At some point this fall, when I have enough spare cash, I need to go buy costly items like tampons and razor blades and so forth and stick them in the pantries. I know what it means to go without, and I know how embarrassing it feels not to have the basics everyone else has.

But that will have to wait a bit, because I don't have that kind of spare change right now.

Also, half my Patreon is already gone on bills and groceries, so there's that.

I have got to bring in sales. NOW. Our traffic is down to almost nothing, and I can't conjure the money everyone's demanding from us out of thin air.

Before that, though? Go donate here. A woman from the Pueblo has been diagnosed with a brain tumor and needs surgery, and she will have to be off work a very long time, and nobody can afford to be without income [I think they'll need to raise the goal substantially, too]. But go. Give. Match us if you can, some part of it if you can't, more [A LOT MORE] if you have the means, because this is urgent.

Also, buy: I posted four new pairs of earrings the other night, hereherehere [these are sold now], and here. Last week, I posted the four new pairs of sterling silver tab earrings, all with Deco-infused stampwork and at a lower price point than most of his earrings: hereherehere, and here. That new necklace I've been talking about [it's phenomenal] became Wednesday's feature, and its gallery entry is here. In addition, his new naja pendant is up, here, and his new cuff, here. The former features both an interior pendant and amber cabs at the ends; the latter is extraordinary, two strands of Deco butterflies set with something that's not a stone, but is phenomenal all the same. The first links are the four pairs of sterling silver tab earrings with amazing stampwork that I promised. If I could sell them all, I'd feel a lot more confident about the next several weeks.

The rest of the month [hell, the rest of the year] is going to be geared around making sales, because I don't have a choice about that. I'm so tired after all the nonsense of this year to date, but I can't let up, because so far, we're not even breaking even on the year, and I will have to worry about next year's tax bill soon enough. But there's tons of new work on the site, in addition to all that's coming up shortly [including three new pairs of Picasso jasper earrings possibly tonight, but more likely tomorrow], so go look:

  • Completed just last weekend, two absolutely phenomenal new cuffs, here and here;
  • Completed the previous weekend, an all-new wristband, here;
  • One extraordinary new belt buckle set with an incredible Skystone, here;
  • Another new vintage-style cuff with a mysterious Skystone, here;
  • Three new pairs of earrings in his gemstone-bead series, herehere, and here;
  • Three new cuffs from last week, two set with incredible turquoise focals, one solid silver; go herehere, and here.
  • Six pairs of new concha floral earrings in the Earrings Gallery here [larger are garnet, golden rutilated quartz, and malachite; smaller are amber, carnelian, and iolite];
  • Art Deco Labradorite cuff here
  • Triangle wire youth bangle here
  • Art Nouveau vine pattern-wire youth bangle here
  • Small Art Nouveau pattern-wire bangle pair here
  • Malachite butterfly/leaf-wing earrings here
  • A big solid silver classic cuff here
  • Ten new pairs of the gemstone-bead earrings are also up in the Earrings Gallery;
  • And another new cuff is also here

There's more on the way very soon. And I need to sell them all, because I still need to make multiple sales daily for us to catch up on the year [and that's just breaking even] and cover all the stuff still in the pipeline that needs covering [roof, more medical, etc.]. So: GO BUY! PLEASE! Links are here:

  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here (Priority is the liquid soaps and Amazon cards, probably most useful at this point);
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.

After such a grim year, this one already far worse than the last, we really need to get what's left of 2024 onto a better footing, so please share all of the links.

Friday Feature: The Light of Fall's Fullest Fire

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reservd.

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a trio of works from Wings's longstanding signature series, The Warrior Woman.  These are his three most recent, all of them set with jewels that that embody the light of fall's fullest fire, one sometimes found within ourselves.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact formIt's a new month, and for us, the official start of the winter holiday creative season, and we are so far behind on sales this year we're not even close to breaking even. And after a full year of absolutely astronomical emergency expenses, [including more than $700 cash at the end of this past week on yet another vehicle repair], we badly need to bring in consistent sales at least weekly for the rest of the year, so shares are very much needed and much appreciated.

Contemplating mischief.

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

The weather here whipped up a sudden fall storm for us. We only got a few scattered drops out of it, but we got multiple wild dust devils and a little thunder, and even a brief light rainbow. The wind is still hanging around, contemplating mischief.

Meanwhile, both my lupus and my RA didn't bother wasting time contemplating mischief; they just exploded the other day into full relentless flare. Like I said yesterday, the pain is . . . well, there aren't words for it. It woke me up repeatedly last night, and every time, my first thought was "How is it possible for something to hurt so much?" And nothing helps. The pain meds aren't even taking the edge off, and of course, I had to get groceries yesterday, which meant walking all over a giant store on tile over concrete, and then wiping it all down, and putting it all away, and every bone in my body already felt like it's about to break. Today, it was making room in the pantry by clearing out old things, some expired, some still perfectly good and well within their sell dates that are duplicates or things I simply can't eat; those are going to the little free pantries around town. There are six, and for a town this size, that should tell you something about how bad things are here for ordinary local people. But the result to me is a fairly drastic uptick in pain now, never mind the fatigue.

Also, half my Patreon is already gone on bills and groceries, so there's that.

#ThrowbackThursday: Fall Sun Setting the Earth Alight

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

It's #TBT at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #ThrowbackThursday work that dates back only three short months, to a special commission by someone very dear to us. It's a hair cuff set with an very distinctive jewel, a Koroit opal that, like the host rock that once held it, comes alive beneath a fall sun setting the earth alight.

The post is here. Wings's main page is hereAs always, this work will never be duplicated, but if the possibilities it suggests speak to your spirit, simply inquire via the site's Contact form; Wings can create something uniquely your own. It's a new month, and for us, the official start of the winter holiday creative season, and we are so far behind on sales this year we're not even close to breaking even. Relentless.

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

Lots of haze again today. Too many prescribed burns, plus all those wildfires in California. Also twenty degrees too hot, plus ten degrees higher than what the official weather recordation says it is today. One more thing we obviously can't rely on to tell the truth, since when the NWS said it was 75, and no higher, it was already 85 right here. No surprise; they refuse to be honest about a pandemic that's killing people by the thousands daily and disabling millions more daily, so why would they be honest about the truth of climate collapse?

Meanwhile, both my lupus and my RA have gone into full relentless flare. The pain is . . . well, there aren't words for it. It woke me up repeatedly last night, and every time, my first thought was "How is it possible for something to hurt so much?" And nothing helps. Shadows On the Earth, at Angles to the Light

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a masterwork perfect for the fall season, when the geometry of light is its animating spirit. It's a personal favorite, a cuff with extraordinary freehand cutwork in an Art Deco design, set with a stone that captures autumn's geometry, too: shadows on the earth, at angles to the light.

October first.

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

A little haze this morning, but mostly clear now. No more clouds than then, either; October first, and it's fully fall here. Also, thankfully, a little cooler today, although not by much. We're way overdue for a hard freeze.

Overdue on lots of other things, too, from medical and dental care to the ability to pay certain expenses to certain payments coming in [or not, as the case may be] to the roof repairs that clearly aren't going to get done this year, winter coming or no. My Patreon is down another almost $200 bucks, and the way they bill it, it means that people subscribed, got access to all 30 September posts, and then didn't pay for it, so I'm out with no recourse. September was awful all across the board, too; we're down on the month by at least three sales. October's going to be expensive anyway. The August truck repair last month and all the rest this year have really screwed us for everything else.  But I still need to get everything else handled.

I have got to bring in sales. NOW. Our traffic is down to almost nothing, and I can't conjure the money everyone's demanding from us out of thin air.

Earlier this week, I posted the four new pairs of sterling silver tab earrings, all with Deco-infused stampwork and at a lower price point than most of his earrings: hereherehere, and here. Red Willow Spirit: Pueblo Shadows, Leaves, and Light

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an edition of Red Willow Spirit for the first day of October, and for settling into the patterns of fall in this place. It's three images linked by two works of wearable art, all of them tributes to the magic of Pueblo shadows, leaves, and light.
