I'm not sure what made them change their migratory patterns and stay here year-round this year, but I'm glad they did. Last night, they were here to welcome us home, and they're watching over us now.
Because yesterday entailed a sudden trip down to Santa Fe and back in the same afternoon: Monday, I got a call from the imaging people saying they'd had a cancellation for Tuesday, and could I come down two and half weeks early? Same time of day as my own appointment. So we dropped everything else and ran for it yesterday, and my MRIs are done.
It was . . . an experience.
I knew what to expect, because I'd read up on it so I wouldn't be surprised by anything, but I still had this feeling of foreboding all the way down. My prep worked, though, because I rocked it: More than sixty minutes straight, face down on my stomach in this specialized "saddle" with my feet propped up behind me, weighted down on all sides, the last 20 minutes or so with the IV infusion of gadolinium, and I didn't move a single muscle the whole time. Not only that, my hips cooperated by not dislocating on me while I was stuck there (although the left one got its revenge in. the early hours of this morning).
Now? I get to wait on tenterhooks for the results, and it better not be two and a half weeks before I find them out, either.
For those of you who don't know what all this means, you can read about it here. You can read why my main concern now is just the potential DX, treatment, and survival (i.e., not the medical bills themselves), half-way down the post here. And why I've been forcibly set back a whole month in the process of getting a diagnosis? You can read that here.
But, yes, we still will need to make consistent sales. I'll have travel costs coming up, plus, if the DX is worst-case, there'll be a lot of days (weeks? months?) when I won't be able to work, which means no chasing sales or patrons to pay regular bills and expenses. Just this week and next, I have to cover farrier, vet, chimney cleaners, vehicle insurance, and quarterly taxes, and I have no idea how, given that I just shelled out more than $1,700 cash yesterday on the imaging.
But as I said, Wings will have several new pieces out soon, too, possibly as early as the end of this week: at least one major necklace posted last week here, and a minimum of four new Warrior Woman and three new Pueblo pins (those last three, with a very cool new twist). I posted the first two Pueblo pins last week; one has already sold, but you can see the other here. Seriously, go check out the necklace; it's incredible.
I'm skipping all the rest of it because I'm tired constantly, and frankly I don't have the focus right now for anything else. Links are here:
- Sales here;
- Testimonials here;
- Amazon wishlist here (priorities are
LaminaSaver for Miika[she's set until August] coffee & metal/glass/dishwasher cleaners); - Patreon here;
- Ko-fi here.
And if you've been contemplating a purchase? This would be a very, very good time to do it; I've got to make up this staggering outlay somehow. There's lots of fabulous new work, so please share all of the links.
