The Talons Remain

Like the snow globe, it’s an idealized world, one distorted by water and sky so that a perch capable of piercing flesh becomes soft and feathered, all round rose-colored light.

The hawk has a softer side, too: silken feathers and rusty red hues.

But the talons remain.
