New year, new work, good news . . . and someone else who needs support.

A new calendar year, and the pace remains as fraught as ever — even when the holiday falls on a Sunday. On the plus side, Miskwaki is fine; Shade is beginning to put a little weight on that right hind leg and foot; and Ember is still determinedly with us.

The crew is off tomorrow; too much to do on the first day back, and we're supposed to get more snow besides, although what they keep billing as storms wind up being mostly flurries. On Tuesday, the windows will be delivered, and they'll begin installing them. By next week, Ice's crew theoretically should be well into the upstairs interior work.

We are, for the moment, fine, although we still need consistent shares. I'll get to that in a moment. For now, though, I want to turn everyone's attention to Lin and Laura's YouCaring page. Lin's final wish was that her sister be safe and secure, and we can help make that happen. So please, go here, share the links via all the widgets, and if you can afford to kick in a few bucks (or more than a few) please give. It's important.

• I've added Lowes gift cards to our Amazon wishlist. For folks who'd rather give gift cards than cash, this is far and away the best way to support construction. We're going to have to sink a small fortune into them for fixtures, appliances, flooring, etc., and at the moment, we can actually use the gift cards better than cash.

Thank you to everyone who has gotten us this far in the year just past; for the new year, we have a long way to go, but very soon (as in this week), you'll start seeing new photos of major progress.
