One of his new pairs of bead earrings. He's got four pairs in the works [as well as a bunch of silverwork items]. This one's not quite done; he still has to clip off the ends of the wire and add the earrings wires. I think the others are going to be a mix of turquoise, spring colors, and . . . oh, hell, I can't remember the last combo. This pair is hand-carved genuine ebony imported from Malawi, hand-made Ethiopian copper beads, jet, rainbow moonstone with black schorl patches, and shungite. Not a good photo compositionally; the light was all wrong, and I was in too much pain to carry them elsewhere for the shot right then. But IRL, they're an amazing contrast between warm and cool, lots of texture, and not very heavy.
Maybe I'll have finished photos of them tomorrow. For that matter, maybe I'll have finished photos of all four pairs, if he has them done.
I hope so, because we have GOT to bring in some sales. And the side effects of the new medication, added to the existing pain, have been making chasing them a real problem this week; I'm going off it temporarily to see if I do better without it. Because the last several days have just been awful; my hands and feet are so bad from the RA I can barely walk or type, the lupus has me rashing out in the sun, and the med is giving me balance and other issues that I seriously do not need.
And I don't have time for them, either. That first $400 expense will clear by Monday, leaving us with no breathing room for the rest of the month. We've got another four or five of those over the next 6-8 weeks, one of them all the way up to $700, and we cannot cover them if we don't make sales.
So I have got to get us caught up on this awful year, but there's no getting blood, or money, from a stone. Those two new pairs of earrings I am determined will go up later tonight [::sigh:: no, they're STILL not up, because see above], and there's a ton of newish work on the site. I am buying exactly nothing, not even the wishlist items we need, because I have to save every cent right now. If people want to donate, I want them to help one of the folks from the group who are so much worse off than we are. If they want to buy Wings's work, that's a different matter entirely, an I will happily sell them anything; and frankly, if they want to take a couple items off our wishlist, or shoot us an Amazon card or two, that's the other thing that would help most.
