Two things.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

That's what I meant elsewhere today about the new green at higher elevations. It's lovely. The lack of any remaining snow, notsomuch; we should still have some clearly visible well into June. We are supposed to get rain starting late Monday, though, so that's something, at least.

Two things:  First is our great-niece, who is battling an aggressive cancer [you know Camille, Roy's oldest girl? this is her stepdaughter]. Marcy was supposed to have the cancerous kidney removed yesterday, and they got in there and found out they couldn't do it. It's inoperable, at least as it stands now. That means that she will need increasingly aggressive interventions in terms of chemo/immunotherapies [and possibly radiation], and those immunotherapies are hideously expensive. I expect that they will need to increase the goal on her GFM, and she will certainly need plenty of new donations to it, regardless. If you have a few bucks to spare, please do, and please at least share it with your networks. She's young, with a family, and she was already at Stage 4 when they first caught it ~6 months ago. You can donate here.

Second, it's two items [in large numbers] added to our wishlist to prevent a recurrence of a local incident yesterday. A woman found an badly emaciated dog dragging a leash, hiding from the heat, no water available. She was on her way out of town and didn't have her microchip scanner with her, so she called Animal Control, who informed her, "oh, we don't do that," and also "we don't have any scanners anyway." It's not the officer's fault; it's TCSO, under whose purview AC falls. So, I'm calling their bluff. I've added a bunch of microchip scanners to our wishlist. [I've altered the remaining models to conform with what Jen tells me will work even on the OLD chips]. We have ten on there at ~$56 each, and another 35 remaining at $20 each. [Ten of the newer model are already purchased.] That will be enough to give every sheriff and deputy and AC officer one, plus some for the fire department.  If they refuse them, we'll give them to Stray hearts, the rescues, and volunteers [but not before letting the whole world know that they refused free equipment for the job they're statutorily mandated to do]. So if you have a spare a $20 [or $56]?  Please consider buying one, here. Top two items; ignore the rest. And maybe we can get some of these runaway and/or stolen dogs reunited with their humans.

And then, of course, it's all the rest of it. I've got to bring in some sales this weekend: Next week is labs, and those are gonna cost, plus we've had the two doctor's appointments and all the scrips over the last two days, so I need to bring in a few hundred in sales over this long weekend to make up for it.

In the meantime, all the work still has to get done. Still going to try to get the new piece up and published on the site tonight. He has a new cuff that's almost complete, too; if it's done yet today, I'll try to get it up tonight as well. No promises, between everythig else that has to get done and the lack of any respite from pain [today's chemo day, so maybe I'll feel better tomorrow . . . or maybe not]. And, of course, we still need shares, and we most definitely still need weekly sales, until I can get everything covered that has to get covered [and that will be a good long while]. I don't get any breaks from that, either. Links are here:

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a masterwork for space and season, place and time, for sacred directions, sacred earth, and their need for our stewardship now. It's a big, bold, traditional necklace wrought in the old way, with layer after layer of silverwork and a truly spectacular old stone, all of them emblematic of life, defiant and persistent.

Summer finally feels possible.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

The green is more clearly visible at the higher elevations now. The last two days have been absolutely beautiful. Summer finally feels possible.

Of course, if we do get the rains forecast for next week, it will cool it down significantly. But we need the precipitation, too.

Good to be back home earlier today. Picked up all the scrips but one [a new one for Wings], which was apparently still on the truck somewhere between them and their warehouse. We won't be able to get it until Tuesday [they're closed every weekend because corporate won't pay for proper staffing, and closed for Monday's holiday], but at least it's on the way. Next week is also labs, and those are gonna cost, plus we've had the two doctor's appointments and all the scrips, so I need to bring in a few hundred in sales over this long weekend to make up for it.

In the meantime, all the work still has to get done. Still going to try to get the new piece up and published on the site tonight. Friday Feature: The Light, the Green, the Gift of Breath

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with an old-style masterwork wrought in a vintage Indigenous Art Deco style, the light of the world given form and shape and spirit. It's a big, bold band beautifully sculpted freehand and set with a gentle yet incredible stone, together embodying the light, the green, the gift of breath that is this season's medicine.

Yes, everything's late tonight.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

There's a pall of smoke coming from the west, but it makes for a beautiful last light.

Yes, everything's late tonight. It's been a day of errands and appointments and disruptions and derailments. I'm just glad to be home and in for the night now, even though I do still have to do all of my regular daily work yet tonight.

It's been an expensive day, though, and tomorrow will be, too, as will next week: Doctor's appointments for both of us today; scrips to be picked up tomorrow [which will be more than the appointments, for the love of all that's holy]; and labs next week. I'm very much overdue for bloodwork because of my immunosuppressant meds, but she's adding on several other things. We had a good discussion about what's been going on with me today, and we agreed that the bloodwork is the first step. If it shows nothing, we'll back-burner it and see how I am in three months [because if it IS autoimmune-driven, it can relapse and remit constantly, but if it's something even less pleasant, chances are there will be no remitting, only progressing]. And then, of course, if it DOES show something worth worrying about, then . . . well, then we'll worry, I guess. And do whatever the next step is.

In the meantime, all the work still has to get done. Obviously, I did not get the new piece up and published on the site last night, and as late as everything else is now, I don't know about tonight, either, but I'll try. And, of course, we still need shares, and we most definitely still need weekly sales, until I can get everything covered that has to get covered [and that will be a good long while]. #TBT: A Path That Blossoms With Light

Photo copyright Wings, 2025; all rights reserved.

It's #ThrowbackThursday at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #TBT work that was created, if memory serves, somewhere around 2008, but that I believe sold in 2013. It's a ring wrought in a vintage style, a traditional blossom design with Wings's unique twists on the pattern, one that evoked the abundance of summer, and the prosperity to be found in choosing a path that blossoms with light.

The post is here. Wings's main page is hereAs always, this work will never be duplicated, but if the style speaks to your spirit, simply inquire via the site's Contact form; Wings can create a version uniquely your own. We have huge expenses awaiting us this year, and we need to bring in sales each and every week to cover them. Meet the new work.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Meet the new work. It's extraordinary. That stone is one that has been in his private collection for literal decades; it's an almost pure, perfect blue, although up close, beneath the lens of the camera, you can see the faint whorls in it, and it has a tiny line or two of chert at one edge. Given its age, it's probably either an absolutely fantastic specimen of Sleeping Beauty, or a virtually matrix-free one of old Blue Gem. Either way, it's phenomenal.

So is the setting, all saw-cut and filed freehand, deeply, repeatedly, chasing the lines until they look like the petals of a flower opening around the sky. The bail is tucked low behind the top; the beads are almost entirely natural blue turquoise of unknown origin, with evenly spaced pops of Hill Tribe fine silver [.999 purity, v. sterling's .925].  The strand is roughly 22", excluding findings; figure between 22" and 23" overall.

With luck, I'll have the photos resized and the description up this evening on the site.

Be nice if we could sell it right away. He has another one in process, slightly larger pendant, but the stone is close to the same size; not turquoise, but natural marcasite. it looks like a molten sun.

We'll see how far I get on this one tonight, though; I'm still way behind on everything else. This day has been pretty much like the whole last week, which is to say, a new problem everywhere we turn, and the rest of the week is looking like more of the same. Harder when I don't have full use of my dominant arm/hand, too. And, of course, we still need shares, and we most definitely still need weekly sales, until I can get everything covered that has to get covered [and that will be a good long while]. Earth and Light In Living Harmony

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a masterwork for these days of new warmth and nascent green, for Earth's round dance of season and time. It's a bolo wrought in an old traditional style, a giant concha wrought entirely freehand and set with a fabulous old stone in greens and golds, like a healthy earth and light living in harmony.

Golden birds.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

The kingbirds are here in force this year — the whole clan is camped out on the red willow branches and the chicken-wire fence. Now that the tanagers are here, too, we seem to have the full complement of golden birds of spring and summer:  both of them, plus the siskins, and the goldfinches, and at least one female evening grosbeak. Still waiting on our first butterflies, though. That's probably mostly due to the fact that it was still only forty-one degrees at ten o'clock this morning; we've had several nights in a row below freezing now.

Not a single cloud in the sky anywhere all day today, though. Plenty of smoke haze to the west from neighboring states, but no clouds, and our air, at least, remained pretty clear. I could go outside without masking and not have my asthma kick up.

The subluxes are another matter entirely. My right shoulder is still a mess, as are my neck, my right hand, my ribs, and both feet. Unfortunately, these are not like ordinary joint dislocations; I can't just have them put back in place. They have to resolve themselves on their own, and that can be anywhere from a few hours to several months. If you remember what I was dealing with year some years back when they put me on the baseline lupus drug, they didn't resolve until I went off the damn thing, so essentially a whole year of crippling, unresolvable pain. I have to find out this week whether I stay on the chemo at this dose or not. And then, of course, there's all the rest of it, and I have no idea what's going to come out of that this week. I'm not looking forward to it, not the labs, not the cost and definitely not the possible outcomes, but here we are.

On the other front, it appears that we will be okay [for a while; until the next round of payments and repairs is required] after tomorrow, but we still need shares, and we most definitely still need weekly sales, until I can get everything covered that has to get covered [and that will be a good long while]. Red Willow Spirit: A Reminder of, a Recommitment to Life

Photo copyright Wings, 2025; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an edition of Red Willow Spirit for days of gale-force winds and unseasonal cold, of recalling what was so that we know what we must rebuild. It's three related images linked by a single, singularly apt work of wearable art shown from two perspectives, collectively a reminder of, a recommitment to life and to the work ahead.

Coming tomorrow.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

The latest work in progress. That's what's coming tomorrow; beads are strung, but it still needs findings.

I just hope tomorrow's a better day across the board, because this one has sucked.

I've had a dislocation in the shoulder of my dominant arm for days now, but it's getting worse. I haven't had one this bad, or this kind of pain with it, in months. It's the kind that makes sleep impossible, and it makes doing anything impossible, too, so all my work today is taking twice as long and is at best half-assed. And it affects everything. So do the myriad other smaller dislocations: hip, hand, feet. And then there's all the rest of it, and I have no idea what's going to come out of that this week.

On the other front, it appears that we will be okay [for a while; until the next round of payments and repairs is required] after Tuesday or Wednesday, but we still need shares, and we most definitely still need weekly sales, until I can get everything covered that has to get covered. There is no normal now.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Amazing skies today. The good thng is tat we can actually see them, despite these terrible winds. Apparently they're not os lucky a little south of here; lots of warnings about blowing dust and low visibility.

Here, though? It's cold. It really doesn't feel like late May; normally, we make a big jump in terms of temps this month.

But, of course, there is no normal now.

No normal in any context, apparently. The world is on fire, the [literal] Nazis are running everything [into the ground], people are dying entirely unnecessarily, and our so-called "leaders" want us to believe that it's just a matter of the right sternly-worded letter and waiting them out. Which, of course, ignores the whole "people dying unnecessarily now" part. And it's getting harder to have any patience with anyone espousing that bullshit when I'm in this kind of pain. The last three or four days have been absolutely murderous, and my ability to move, walk, use my arms and hands, sit, stand, sleep, whatever, is badly impaired. We'll see what labs get ordered, and what they show. I don't hold out a lot of hope, for what by now should be obvious reasons. I mean, none of this is normal, either, but this is what I have to deal with every moment of every day.

On the other front, it appears that we will be okay [for a while; until the next round of payments and repairs is required] after Tuesday or Wednesday, but until then, no. So. We still need shares, and we most definitely still need sales. As in now, today, this weekend and beyond, until I can get everything covered that has to get covered. This is what you get.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

These days look so beautiful in the morning.

Now, it's all gale-force winds and bitter cold. Truly, I should not be wearing an insulated jacket in broad daylight in the latter half of May. But when colonialism kills the planet, this is what you get.

Yesterday was flatly terrible in every way. Today is improved on a couple of fronts, but there is nothing, apparently, that's going to help with the pain, or with this new and rapid progression of my symptoms and condition. The wind's not helping, either, of course, but this is clearly a progression even without that. I can't get a break from the pain; it's everywhere, and it's finding whole new ways to cripple me now. [I don't want to hear a word about my using that word; I chose it very specifically for its accuracy.]

No respite.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Finally, some green on the land. No respite from the wind, though.

No respite from anything today; it's been just a terrible fucking day across the board. The meds haven't helped, and I don't know whether I'll be able to keep my appointment next week. That alleged breathing room has not materialized, and that has borked everything.

So. We still need shares, and we most definitely still need sales. As in now, today, every day for a while, until I can get everything covered that has to get covered. Links are here:

Always lots in the pipeline.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Double filework. All freehand. It's going to be amazing.

He's got a big piece [a gift for a relative] to get off his workbench, and then he can get this one finished. He also has half a dozen pairs of cactus-blossom earrings in the works, lots of stone combinations, some with hand-made ingot overlays.

Always lots in the pipeline.

Always lots of expense in the pipeline, too, though. So even though we made a sale last weekend that, once paid, will give us a little breathing room. That said, everything is SO far behind, courtesy of two frankly terrible years in a row with a ton of emergency expenses of the kind no one can anticipate, that I still need to bring in consistent weekly sales now. I also have to think in terms of what might be waiting for me health-wise, too, no matter how much I want to avoid it [and I suspect the bare minimum will be a bunch of costly labs at the end of this month, which, I should note, are actually more than a year overdue now]. The weather hasn't helped on that score, with all this wind. Tomorrow is chemo day, but it remains to be seen whether that makes me feel better or worse now.

So. We still need shares, and we most definitely still need sales. As in now, today, every day for a while, until I can get everything covered that has to get covered. Links are here:

  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here (Priorities are Amazon gift cards, which we can ALWAY use, and the filters for the air purifiers, which are doing double-duty right now with our record-high pollen levels this spring);
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.

After such a grim year last year, and this one beginning at least as badly, we urgently need to move 2025 onto a better footing because taxes to this Nazi administration have already tapped us out and we still owe more anyway, so please share all of the links.

#ThrowbackThursday: The Purple Petals and Flames of Twilight

Photo copyright Wings, 2025; all rights reserved.

It's #TBT at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #ThrowbackThursday work that dates back to around 2008, if memory serves, and an entry in Wings's informal series of layered-bezel works. It's a ring wrought in solitaire style, set with spectacular domed amethyst that channels the purple petals and flames of twilight.

The post is here. Wings's main page is hereAs always, this work will never be duplicated, but if the style speaks to your spirit, simply inquire via the site's Contact form; Wings can create a version uniquely your own. We have a little breathing room now, but we have even greater expense awaiting us, and we will still need to bring in sales each and every week. So we need shares, but most of all, we need sales.

Another matter entirely.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Happy horse. Won't be able to let her out much longer; too green, and soon, not enough dew in the mornings. For now, though, Miika's loving it, and the exercise is good for her.

It was already windy by then, but that doesn't tend to bother her much. Us, that's another matter entirely. It's the absolute worst weather condition for my particular complex of illness, so my pain's ratcheted up way beyond even what it usually is, as though that's not bad enough. I've taken to wearing a mask every time I go outside, though, and between that and the immune suppression from the chemo and steroids, it's keeping my allergies slightly at bay, at least. It doesn't seem to be doing much else, but at least there's that.

Now, I just have to get everything done.

Speaking of which, Jen's fundraising campaign is DONE. Challenge funds all raised by late yesterday; matching funds are coming to her by check, which is why it's not reflected in the Spotfund total, but it's on its way. THANK YOU, to everyone who helped her get back on the road, helping local dogs.

We also made a sale last weekend that, once paid, will give us a little breathing room.

The Flowering Medicine of Twilight

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work for the beauty and mystery of the moments at day's end, as the night falls across a land returning to its rest. It's a truly extraordinary necklace, a pendant wrought entirely freehand and comprising thirteen separate stones, hanging from a strand of spectacular beads hand-selected to match, the whole manifest as the flowering medicine of twilight now.

Melting fast now.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Snow's melting fast now.

We got the winds today, but nowhere near the level predicted. That might be very different tomorrow, of course. It was chilly early today, but by mid-afternoon it had warmed up significantly, and that up there is the result. Still, that was enough snow to do the land some real good, so we're grateful.

Everything's late because I had to spend most of the day offline dealing with other stuff. If all goes well, I won't be going anywhere again until next week. Yeah, I know, it's a big if, but between the effects of the meds and, more to the point, of my illness generally, I need not be damaging my joints and tendons and ligaments any more than absolutely necessary right now.

We also made a sales over the past weekend that will give us a little breathing room.

Red Willow Spirit: Storm Light In Bloom

Photo copyright Wings, 2025; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an edition of Red Willow Spirit for late's spring's customary gifts, and those that are more rare, as well. It's three images linked by two apt works of wearable art, all of them exemplars of the storm light in bloom that adds a flowering and colorful beauty to our days now.
