Finished.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Okay, here's what it looks like finished. It's not up yet, but it will be late tonight. The cabs in the pendant and earrings are all Welo opals, and the beads are also [mostly Welo opals, a mix of greens with some orange and white, plus fine silver, Madagascar Labradorite, gray moonstone tapered bugles, and tiny emerald beads. And I think he's planning to sell it as a set, which he almost never does, but this one? It doesn't seem right to break it apart.

In addition, there are two coil bracelets going up tonight. One is greens [no opals, mostly jades, but it looks like it belongs with this set] with some black and white; the other, fiery, smoky reds, like the new gemstone-bead necklace from the other night, a mix of smoky quartz, red spiny oyster, red jasper, and a few other things. All already available for purchase, and shipping this week should [not guaranteed, but should] get items there in time for Christmas.

I also posted four pairs of earrings last night, in addition to the new works from last week:  sterling and citrine, here; sterling and malachite, here [and already sold]; sterling and iolite, here; and sterling and natural Oregon sunstone, here. Last week's are that extraordinary solstice pendant [and I now have a photo with the chain, athough it's not posted yet]; two small barrette pairs, one set with malachite, the other with snowflake obsidian; and those two gemstone-bead necklaces, the one in fiery, smoky reds, the other in stormy, shadowy blues. All are available immediately, and we have a little over a week in which we can ship and still likely get it there in time for Christmas.

We were blessed with a really good sale last week, so the pressure to cover immediate things will be off in a few days when the payment clears. But there's still all the rest, all the stuff we couldn't cover all year because of one catastrophe after another, the taxes that still need to be prepaid, all the January bills that will be here before we know it [which include truck insurance and a whole bunch of business-related expenses that come due once a year, but total well into four figures]. So we still need to make the equivalent of a sale a day now, on average. And he has so much new work!  I'm hoping to pull another late night to get five of them up yet. yeah, I know, I shouldn't, but it has to be done, because the last two years have all but killed us financially, and we're almost out of year. The Cedar's Wintry Magic

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's one of Wings's all-new works, completed only yesterday — a pair of earrings for the moment when the cedar bird spreads her wings. It's a pair that's already sold, too, but the feature stones so extraordinary that they deserve to be seen, rich forest greens that resemble a bird's wings, in a setting manifest with all the beauty and power of the cedar's wintry magic.

The post is here. Wings's main page is hereInquiries via the site's Contact form. This is it: fewer than three weeks left in the year to catch up. The last two years have been nightmares of catastrophic repairs and other astronomical costs, and the damage has been incalculable. The rest will all be up tonight.

Photo copyright Ai, 2025; all rights reserved.

Here's the opal dragonfly set [sold as separate pieces]. The pendant is now on a strand of beads that took all afternoon, basically, because those opal rondels had such impossibly tiny drillwork:  Welo opal beads, very small, mostly greenish with some orange and white, plus fine silver, Madagascar Labradorite, gray moonstone tapered bugels, and genuine emerald.  It's strung, but he hasn't gotten as far as the findings yet, so that will post tomorrow. The rest will all be up tonight. The citrine earrings are already; they're today's feature, here.

Today has been a bitch of a day across the board, which is why I'm only getting to my own work now, and I got less than nothing done of what I actually had planned for the day. So tomorrow is going to have to be mine, and it's going to have to be enforced, because I have too work to get caught up and it cannot wait any longer.

Meanwhile, the other day I posted four new works in addition to Wednesday's extraordinary solstice pendant: two small barrette pairs, one set with malachite, the other with snowflake obsidian; and two gemstone-bead necklaces, one in fiery, smoky reds, the other in stormy, shadowy blues. All are available immediately, and we have a little over a week in which we can ship and still likely get it there in time for Christmas.

Winter's Wings of Golden Light

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an all new work, completed only today, a pair of earrings in the shapes and shades of the Sunbird's feathers. It's a subtle, gentle, yet bold and brilliant pair of dangling drops, sunny citrine at the center of winter's wings of golden light.

Done, but not done.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Okay, so I was wrong. The new ones are done, but not done. Today wound up being constant derailments and chaos for multiple reasons, and he was lucky to get them this close to finished.

One pair of earrings is not in the shot; it's on his anvil, in the same phase of completion [meaning stones set, but wires not attached]. That pair, and those in the upper right, both have different stones from what I said they would be, too . . . because apparently vendors do not know what the word "calibrated" means, and the size they insist a stone is is not the actual size at all, and I had to scramble to find him stones that would fit the bezels already made for them. Upper left is citrine now instead of Labradorite; on the anvil are malachite instead of turquoise.

They'll be done tomorrow, and hopefully I'll get them all posted then, too.

Meanwhile, yesterday I posted four new works in addition to Wednesday's extraordinary solstice pendant: two small barrette pairs, one set with malachite, the other with snowflake obsidian; and two gemstone-bead necklaces, one in fiery, smoky reds, the other in stormy, shadowy blues. Friday Feature: A Cold Clear Geometry of Mystical Light

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a single work shown from four perspectives, one whose ethereal focal stone and freehand silverwork embody the geometry of light. It's a cuff bracelet with extraordinary silversmithing and a truly otherworldly cabochon of banded golden Labradorite, together capturing this season's gift of a cold clear geometry of mystical light.

Four new pairs of earrings that'll be done tomorrow.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

More work in progress; four new pairs of earrings that'll be done tomorrow. That's in addition to a pendant and a coordinating pair of earrings [those will have Welo opals], and gemstone-bead necklaces, earrings, and coils in various stages of completion. These four pairs are going to be spectacular:  The long millwork pairs will be old turquoise and blue-flash Labradorite, respectively; the conchas will be sunstone and iolite.

Meanwhile, today I posted four new works in addition to yesterday's extraordinary solstice pendant: two small barrette pairs, one set with malachite, the other with snowflake obsidian; and two gemstone-bead necklaces, one in fiery, smoky reds, the other in stormy, shadowy blues. All are available immediately, and we have a little over a week in which we can ship and still likely get it there in time for Christmas.

We were blessed with a really good sale a few nights ago, so the pressure to cover immediate things will be off in a few days when the payment arrives [and clears, of course]. #ThrowbackThursday: Catching the Light of the Low Winter Sun

Photo copyright Aji Wings, 2025; all rights reserved.

It's #TBT at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #ThrowbackThursday featured work that dates back just over one month exactly, to the first week of November of this year. It's a cuff that Wings created as an honor gift for a local teen's birthday, set with the sunny citrine that is her birthstone, and catching the light of the low winter sun in permanent and wearable form.

The post is here. Wings's main page is hereThis work will never be duplicated exactly, but if the general style speaks to your spirit, simply inquire via the site's Contact form; Wings can create a version uniquely your own.  This is it: officially fewer than three weeks left in the year to catch up. I would still feel less Scrooge-y if we had snow.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

All the snow is fading fast now. No surprise, considering that's thirty degrees too warm, and expected to remain so for the next two weeks.

It's hard to get into the holiday spirit when it looks and feels like April.

Of course, it's hard for us anyway, because we're so buried under work at this time of year. Every year. It's just the way it is. We've taken to regarding "Christmas" the old, the famous 12 days from Christmas Day to Epiphany, and it works for us. But I would still feel less Scrooge-y if we had snow.

We were blessed with a really good sale a couple of nights ago, so the pressure to cover immediate things will be off in a few days when the payment arrives. But there's still all the rest, all the stuff we couldn't cover all year because of one catastrophe after another, the taxes that still need to be prepaid, al the January bills that will be here before we know it. Our World Is of Solstice Light Reborn

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an all-new work by Wings, completed yesterday an posted today, an extraordinary pendant filled with the glow and medicine of winter. It's pendant as cosmic vortex, with the power of storm and sun together, a reminder that our world is of solstice light reborn, and the new world is already awaiting us with hope.

Something powerful.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Gorgeous clouds tonight. Most of the day, actually, a mix of primarily lenticular and a few asperitas clouds, making the sky look like a rolling, roiling sea. Add the light of the setting sun to that, and you have something powerful.

Something entirely unlike me today, in other words. The pace has finally caught up with me completely; I've felt sick all day, and it's not illness in the ordinary sense, it's just what autoimmune disease does when you've pushed your body beyond its limits. And so here we are. And we were going constantly all day today' so much to get done this time of year. it doesn't even feel like Christmas to us until the two weeks after the holiday.

We were blessed with a really good sale last night, so the pressure to cover immediate things will be off in a few days. But there's still all the rest, all the stuff we couldn't cover all year because of one catastrophe after another, the taxes that still need to be prepaid, al the January bills that will be here before we know it. Red Willow Spirit: Caught In the Still Cold Light of Winter

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an edition of Red Willow Spirit for these days that should be full winter now, chill and silent and shimmeringly beautiful. It's three images linked by two of Wings's newer works of wearable art, all of them manifest in the breathtaking beauty of this place, caught in the still cold light of winter.

Only part of it.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

I said there was a lot of new work in the works. Two pairs of concha earrings, one pendant with overlay and nine stones [once set], and two pairs of mini-barrettes. That's only part of it.

Now, I need him to finish them tomorrow, and then I need to sell them all.

Because this year just will not let go on the expense front, and we're so far in the hole in terms of where we should be this year on sales. Friday cost us $250 on our scrips, $200 on propane, $500 on supplies, materials he needed for pieces he has in the works. Which means I need to bring in a smooth $1K in sales to cover all of it, because that's money that had to be taken away from everything that has to be covered the rest of the month. And of course, that hasn't happened.

Meanwhile, we're still down by dozens of sales on the year, and numbers too large to contemplate. And after it being such a god-awful year, we literally need to make a sale a day now, on average, and we're nowhere near that. The problem for him continues to be getting enough studio time to finish them all [and then for me, to get them photographed, uploaded, descriptions written, and put out there for sale]. But it has to be done, because the last two years have all but killed us financially, and we're almost out of year. To that end, links are here:

Monday Photo Meditation: Magic In the Dance of Ice and Light

Photo copyright Wings, 2025;

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a Monday Photo Meditation for what should be the most beautiful part of winter here. It's an image that dates back eight years, to mid-December of 2017, and an experience carved into memory now, the alpine winter magic in the dance of ice and light . . . and the stubborn hope that we may see it again one day.

In the works.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Two of the new gemstone-bead necklaces, not quite finished. The one on the left has a blue-flash Labradorite briolette as a focal; beads are blue-gray baroque pearl, sapphire, blue rose quartz, royal lapis, Labradorite; fine silver [and maybe sterling as anchors; I can't remember]. The one on the right is smoky quartz, red jasper; fine silver; hematite; red glass that looks like red tiger's eye; Labradorite; and sterling silver [and yes, I know the foxtail is showing, but it won't, I promise; he just hasn't added the findings and clipped the ends yet]. A couple more of those in the works, plus earrings and coils; a multistone overlay pendant; a matched necklace and earrings set; two barrette pairs; and four pairs of silverwork earrings. And more, but those are the things currently on his workbench in various stages of completion.

Tomorrow's Monday and I haven't even recovered from Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. It's not just the regular pain from having had to do a lot of snow shoveling and lifting and carrying and walking and standing in line on hard surfaces; it's also the fact that I woke up this morning with my left hip and knee subluxed [a sublux is a partial dislocation of the joint, and it hurts like hell], with attendant constant muscle spasming around the connective tissue from hip to toe. On top of that, Friday cost us $250 on our scrips, $200 on propane, $500 on supplies, materials he needed for pieces he has in the works. Which means I need to bring in a smooth $1K in sales to cover all of it, because that's money that had to be taken away from everything that has to be covered the rest of the month. But it's something.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

That was this morning, and most of the snow was already gone. That in the field? All gone now. But those clouds stuck around and they've gathered and grown into something that makes snow feel possible again. It's probably possible only for the peaks, but it's something.

So much to do today, and this week has taken so much out of me that I can't even think straight. Yesterday was a hell of an expensive day [and a physically painful one for me, too]:  $250 on our scrips, $200 on propane, $500 on supplies, materials he needed for pieces he has in the works. Which means I need to bring in a smooth $1K in sales to cover all of it, because that's money that had to be taken away from everything that has to be covered the rest of the month.

And yes, I'm beat; no sleep two nights ago, ridiculously long days; an absurd amount of physical labor yesterday and Thursday that required me to push my joints beyond anything they can remotely handle anymore, but there's no one but us to do it, so it had to get done. And now. I'll be up late again, because we need the sales. We're still down by dozens of sales on the year, and numbers too large to contemplate. And after it being such a god-awful year, we literally need to make a sale a day now, on average, and we're nowhere near that.

He has SO MUCH new work in various stages of the creative process: pendant; necklace and earrings set; two barrette pairs; four pairs of silverwork earrings, something like four each of the gemstone bead necklaces, earrings, and coils. The problem for him is getting enough studio time to finish them all [and then for me, to get them photographed, uploaded, descriptions written, and put out there for sale]. Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work for the cloud-webbed blue of winter, when the sky sheds a single tear and it becomes not rain, but snow. It's a pendant, simple, spare, elegant, and built around an extraordinary Skystone, color and pattern and silver setting all capturing one of this season's gifts, a cold atmospheric dance of storm and light.

It's good to see some snow again, finally. Of course, that was this morning, and most of it's gone by now, but still.  It was cold all day today, but when the sun is that bright, it's going to melt.

And I've had to spend the whole day out again, and entirely aside from the stress on my body of having to be on my feet and waiting in lines, it's been a hell of an expensive one, too:  $250 on our scrips, $200 on propane, $500 on supplies, materials he needed for pieces he has in the works. Which means I need to bring in a smooth $1K in sales to cover all of it, because that's money that had to be taken away from eveything that has to be covered the rest of the month.

And yes, I'm beat; no sleep two nights ago, ridiculously long days; an absurd amount of physical labor yesterday that required me to push my joints beyond anything they can remotely handle anymore, but there's no one but us to do it, so it had to get done. And now. I'll be up late again, because we need the sales. We're still down by dozens of sales on the year, and numbers too large to contemplate. And after it being such a god-awful year, we literally need to make a sale a day now, on average, and we're nowhere near that. The last two years have all but killed us financially, and we're almost out of year. To that end, links are here:

  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here [priority is the vacuum! mine died two days ago, and we're being suffocated by dog hair];
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.
And we do still need to make those regular weekly [daily now, really] sales, so please share all of the links. We really do need this to be a better month than what we've had so far this year.

Friday Feature: Wintry Turquoise Skies and Stormy Light

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a trio of masterworks that embody all the beauty and power and medicine of this season at its best. It's three bolos wrought freehand in sterling silver and set with extraordinary Skystones, capturing the return of wintry turquoise skies and stormy light.

The post is here. Wings's main page is hereInquiries via the site's Contact form. This is it: one month left in the year to catch up. The last two years have been nightmares of catastrophic repairs and other astronomical costs, and the damage has been incalculable. We now need to bring in multiple sales virtually daily just to break even on the year.

It's beautiful, and it's bitterly cold.

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

It's the Little Spirit Moon, tonight not with a corona, but more swinging on an inverted rainbow of clouds and light. It's beautiful, and it's bitterly cold.

I think all told we got about four inches of snow, but it only looked like two because last night's high winds blew most of it out; the rest fell this morning. The deep freeze used to show up around Christmas and thereafter, and usually after a snowfall of three feet, but nope, we've got it today and tonight already. It's supposed to get down to three degrees actual temp overnight, which as a practical matter means that here, it will plunge below zero, and the wind chill will be well below that.

And because this kind of weather requires a ton of outdoor work for land, animals, water, etc., it's been yet another one of those days, where I can't get any of my own work done, nor could he. We spent the whole day sweeping an shoveling and hauling and carrying and filling and hooking up electric water bowls and elements and and and and. And on top of that, I did two big loads of laundry, one load of dishes plus all the pots and pans by hand, and a bunch of mutual-aid stuff. My neck, shoulders, back, hips, hands, and feet are all screaming at me. And this is on top of basically zero sleep last night [thanks, lupus], so I am wiped.

But we need this work to get done, so I'll be up late again, because we need the sales. Three since the end of the weekend, and I'm overjoyed; it was looking like we wouldn't make a single one, so this is frankly amazing now. But we're still down by dozens of sales on the year, and numbers too large to contemplate. And after it being such a god-awful year, we literally need to make a sale a day now, on average, and we're nowhere near that. #TBT: After the Snow, Cold Hard Blues and Silver Light

It's #ThrowbackThursday at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #TBT featured work that dates back apparently, almost exactly 13 years, to November of 2012. It's a ring wrought in big, bold, classic style, an elegant encapsulation of the local winter sky — after the snow, cold hard blues and silver light.

Finally, snow!

Photo copyright Aji, 2025; all rights reserved.

Yes, that's right:  Finally, snow! That was from late afternoon; we had flurries in the morning, and it didn't really pick up until around 2 PM or so. Now, we've got white-out conditions on the highway; not a lot of accumulation, but the wind has just picked up, and I suspect it will get heavier fairly fast.  They're predicting 6" by morning, but I'm betting it'll be 3-4".

Whatever; we're grateful to have it at all at this point.

It's been another one of those days, where I can't get any of my own work done because I know we're going to have to leave to go into town and there's too much going on with al of it for me to focus. So here I am, again, at night, just barely getting started. This shit's got to stop.

But we need this work to get done, because we need the sales.
