Red Willow Spirit: The Ancient Dance of Storm and Light

Out of order today, because it's been a day.

It was pretty much guaranteed to be like this anyway, courtesy of my crippling knee dislocation yesterday; all the errands we were supposed to run then couldn't be done, because there was absolutely no way I could stand in lines anywhere.

Then, too, this day is a marker: 20 years for Wings's brother; 8 years for one of our pups, lured out into the highway by someone and then hit. So it's a tough day all the way around. Add in the acute physical pain of the last three days and the sheer volume of stuff that has to get done, and . . . yeah.

And I don't have time for any of it. We're both beat now, and the workload looks about the same for all of the rest of the week [and month] as it has through the whole holiday season. For us, aside from beating back the Nazis and Klan, that also means that we need to have a much better sales year, with fewer catastrophes outside our control, than the last two have presented us. And that means, just to break even, at least one sale per week [and we haven't made one yet in 2026, so we need to rectify that, preferably tonight]. To that end, links are here [and there were two new coils the other night night, plus a new pair of earrings]:

Look at that. No snow. At the beginning of January? Every mountain should be completely white, base to peaks. You should not be able to see bare tundra for months yet.

But when it's fifty degrees too warm, this is what you get.

And they're still selling us out to the billionaire colonizers, who are sucking up all the water for their vanity projects that don't even work.

It's depressing. Of course, it's more depressing when my illness flares so badly that I can't even walk properly, when the chronic pain is also acute pain and there's not a damn thing I can do about it. This is my life, and it's only going to get worse.

Monday Photo Meditation: New Snow For an Old Earth

What was that I was saying yesterday about no dignity? Either of 'em [or Cricket, the feral, either].

I have really blown it. The holiday season this year, which for purposes of our work is three months long, forced me to push my body way beyond endurance. Since then, I've been pushing it to try to catch up on so much that Iv'e had to neglect so long to focus on the business. And when I woke up this morning, I knew I was in trouble.

It's not just the excruciating full-body pain this time, although there's that, too. It's also the fact that I woke up with my right knee slightly dislocated, the joint having swollen badly internally. In an ideal world, I would have been able to stay off it all day, but we don't live there. And now, tonight, it's completely nonfunctional, the pain is indescribable, and I can barely walk. Tomorrow requires me to stand in line, and I don't know if I can do it.

This is what lupus and RA do. it doesn't require a trigger or a proximate cause; my joints dislocate in my sleep, without me even moving. And this level of pain is something that I wouldn't wish on anyone.

And there's not a damn thing I can do about it. This is my life, and it's only going to get worse.

Sunny, keeping an eye on me from a distance. He's a very sensitive boy, and he likes to make sure he knows where we are at all times.

At the moment, he's behind the couch where I'm sitting, probably lying on his back with everything straight up and displaying absolutely no dignity whatsoever.

Which seems to be the theme for this calendar year, given what's going on everywhere else. Unbelievable that stan culture has so infected this society that people will defend the garbage responses as though professing to be "totally, totally, totally troubled" is doing something. Of course, I suppose it is; it's continuing to hand the country, and all of us, directly over to the Nazis. But it's an abomination.

Another nonstop day. We're both beat now, and the workload looks about the same for tomorrow, and all of next week. For us, aside from beating back the Nazis and Klan, that also means a much better sales year, with fewer catastrophes outside our control, than the last two have presented us. Late Snow, Winter Sun, and a New Light

It's a coil bracelet in shades of rich gold and glossy white, bringing together late snow, winter sun, and a new light in one glowing spiral.

Beautiful morning fog. Today had it all here: rain before dawn; fog and heavy clouds [actually that color; that's shot outside, not through the window]; snow on the peaks, albeit not down here; trickster winds; brilliant sun; coral caps on the eastern peaks at sunset; nearly full Great Spirit Moon now.

And apparently, a brilliant light in the southern sky an hour ago, from a supposed Space-X launch in California. 

We didn't see it, but I'll take the moon any night of the week. First, that Nazi predator needs to be in prison for life; second, no one needs the light pollution here; third, the waste on this bullshit when people are freezing literally to death? Nah.

All in all, a decent day, albeit a nonstop one. We're both beat now, and the workload looks about the same for the weekend. But we need a better year than the last two [horrifying disastrous ones] have been. For us, aside from beating back the Nazis and Klan, that also means a much better sales year, with fewer catastrophes outside our control, than the last two have presented us. Snow for New Year's. Not down here, of course — we didn't even get the rain so breathlessly and confidently forecast — but snow on the peaks, at least.

Not enough, but we're grateful even for that much.

Cold today, at least, and in theory, there will be snow early tomorrow morning. At this point, we're both just glad to have 2025 in the rearview mirror, and hoping against hope that 2026 is a better one.
