Monday Photo Meditation: Skies For the Spirits of Warmer Winds

Photo copyright Wings, 2022; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a photo meditation for a Monday in the earliest days of spring, when trickster winds deliver cloud formations of a haunting and delicate beauty. It's an homage to those clouds and to the gifts they bring, welcoming skies for the spirits of warmer winds, and those spirits themselves, as well.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. As always, his photos are available in any of the usual three formats; simply inquire via the site's Contact form. We will still need to make consistent sales to make it through this third year of pandemic and loss, so shares of the site links are much appreciated.

The work around here is endless.

Photo copyright Aji, 2022; all rights reserved.

One of Wings's many, many tasks yesterday: harrowing the horses' pen so that 1) the mud could dry more evenly, and 2) it would be easier on their feet.

The work around here is endless, for us both.

This week and the rest of the month are going to be a nightmare of appointments and scheduling and god-awful expense. I'm hoping to get the tax stuff turned over to the accountant tomorrow, and I already know it's ugly. There's going to be no way that we can write a check for the whole amount, never mind pre-pay '22 quarterly taxes. Making a couple of decent sales this week would go a long way to covering that. In the meantime, I feel even more like hell than usual, the result of having to walk too much yesterday courtesy of necessary errands, and I still have to find a way to pay all the tax obligations and get us through April's very costly upcoming medical stuff for both of us, too.

Which means that I need help doing this. Links are here:
  • Sales here;
  • Testimonials here;
  • Amazon wishlist here (priorities are first and foremost, the other ladder and the Thermacell lanterns; the flies are already out, so the mosquitoes won't be far behind);
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.

We're still hoping to put aside enough for a new well when the ground thaws enough to drill in the spring, too, Nah, we've given up on the well. No one's available to drill before the latter half of summer, and the tax burden means we would never be able to afford it anyway. But it's perhaps even more of a good time to make a purchase, because Uncle Sam is a vindictive colonizer, and my current stress levels about paying it all are off the charts. And there's lots of fabulous work, so please share all of the links.

Of Stars and Storm and Deep Blue Sky

Photo copyright Wings, 2022; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a masterwork newly emergent for a season of warming winds and earth, one with an abundance of roles to play across traditional cultures. It's Spider Woman as you've never seen her before, a spirit to guard the visions and dreams of stars and storm and deep blue sky.

Coyote's season.

Photo copyright Aji, 2022; all rights reserved.

By 4 PM yesterday, that was all that was left of the snow. I mean, it wasn't even snow, not really; just graupel and hail mixed. But once the storm system moved out, the mercury shot up to around seventy. It's warm again today, although the wind is rising. Small chance of rain tomorrow and Monday, and then the killer winds for Tuesday, so I'm planning on staying indoors pretty much all day that day.

It's that season again, the one I hate.  Coyote's season.

Speaking of trickster nonsense, one reason I'm late is that we had several errands to run, things we'd been putting off for the last three or four days so that we could make just the one trip, because my scrips wouldn't be ready until today. That's another ~$200 out the door, by the way. A few sales to cover some of this stuff is absolutely essential, because I'm afraid we're going to be writing a very, very big check out in a few days . . . to a colonizer government that would rather see us dead. In the meantime, I feel like absolute hell, and I still have to find a way to pay it all and get us through April's upcoming and very costly medical stuff, too.

Silver Linings In Braided Skies

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a small but substantial work that embodies the beauty of spring's daylight hours now. It's a ring at once delicate and incredibly strong, reminding us that there are silver linings in braided skies.

Escape sounds wonderful.

Photo copyright Aji, 2022; all rights reserved.

I would love to be able to itch a ride on her wings right now. Escape sounds wonderful right now.

I did wind up pulling most of an all-nighter, albeit unintentionally; my original plan was to be be sound asleep shortly after midnight, but no. I made some real progress, but there's still a lot to do, which means Monday for turning them over. In the meantime, I feel like absolute hell, and I still have to find a way to pay it all and get us through April's costly medical stuff, too.

Which means that I have to keep trying to make enough sales to cover the coming outlay to a government that would prefer to see us dead. We've had two sales over the last 8 weeks or so; not unusual for the first quarter of the year, but also not useful for dealing with the Tax Man. I need help doing this. Links are here:

Friday Feature: The Clarity of a Cloud-Webbed Sky

Photo copyright Aji, 2022; all rights reserved.

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a trio of works (once a quartet) that are elements of their own elemental series and sets. It's the coil bracelets of The Winter Elementals, spiraling on the winds of spring with all the beauty and the clarity of a cloud-webbed sky.
