It really does look like fall now.

Photo copyright Aji Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

This evening brought us a sun dog and storm light, albeit no rain even now, this late in the evening, when it's supposedly sitting practically overhead. But it really does look like fall now.

In theory, we're supposed to get rain over most of the next week or two. We'll believe it when we see it.  But it would be nice to have some good news for once, instead of the endless drumbeat of bad news on every single front lately.

Two rounds of bureaucratic bullshit, entirely different sources, and both know better, so I'm really resentful at having to fight either one.  Add to that the fact that, yes, we are in fact losing not just our second doctor in a year but the whole medical practice, a development that could literally kill me? It's been a shit week in a shit year.

And there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. And we can still use help with shares, testimonials, wishlist stuff I can't get to yet, etc. To that end, links are here:

  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here [I'll be adding some new items soon, things we could really use but that I can't justify spending money on right now, like some sheets and towels];
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.
And we do still need to make those regular weekly sales, so please share all of the links. We really do need to get this year onto a better footing than the last two, a year that, so far, has been very grim.

Friday Feature: Finding the Sacred, In the Water and the Light

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a pair of works that embody the healing properties, and the local beauty, of the First Medicines that bestow life and breath upon our world. It's an old-style necklace on fabulously old beads, and a classic cuff to match, both of them reminding us of the importance now of finding the sacred, in the water and the light.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact formWe still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

In practice, notsomuch.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Red sky at night, and in theory, we're getting rain right now. In practice, notsomuch. Or, you know, at all.

Still. Made for a beautiful sunset, and the rose-colored skies really made the fading colors of the grass and foliage stand out. Across the highway, it's not just fading foliage anymore; it's disappearing foliage, because everything's dying of drought.

There's a rumor flying around that our doctor's practice is closing next month. If it's actually true, it has the capacity to be the end of me, in very literal terms. I did see one of the references, though, and I think this might be one of those situations where someone misinterpreted the fact that our practitioner is quitting in October as the whole office closing. I hope that's all it is.

This has been the year from hell, every week brings some new horror, and if we lose our medical care? I'm not sure I survive that. Not as bad as my illness has become.

And there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. #ThrowbackThursday: Messengers of Love and Dancers of Light

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's #TBT at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #ThrowbackThursday work that dates back to May of 2019, and a special commission from a dear friend. It's a pair of earrings in the form and shape of Dragonfly, tiny messengers of love and dancers of light.

The post is here. Wings's main page is hereThis work will never be duplicated, but if the style speaks to your spirit, simply inquire via the site's Contact form; Wings can create a version uniquely your own.  We still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins  with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

Fall is definitely here.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Fall is definitely here. You can feel it in the air, see it in the light. The shadows are longer, the colors deeper . . . and also lighter, as the leaves continue to fade rapidly now.

It makes me wonder whether we might actually get a real winter this year. If we do, it'll be the first time since the end of 2017. I mean, yes, we've had a few small scattered snows, but we've also had winter temps 80-90 degrees too warm [86 in January, 96 in February, when highs should be no more than 0-20].

Yes, we like the cooler weather. My body is not adapting this year, though. My pain levels have become umanageable across the board now. There's only one pain medication I can take; all the rest make me ill, and don't work anyway [the same is true for Wings, and it's the same medication, too; our doc says it's got to be a genetic component]. But it's not working for me now. I mean, not even taking the edge off. And I don't know what to do.

Because there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. Feathers Made of Sun, Robes of Blue Sky

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's Wings's all-new masterwork for this season of early fall, a necklace wrought in figurative style that embodies the dance of the dawn spirits at break of day. It's a truly extraordinary pendant set with a total of eight stones, suspended from a strand of beads both vintage and new, manifest as Father Sun himself in full regalia, feathers made of sun, robes of blue sky, and surrounded by a halo of pure light.

*Fall*.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

We woke up this morning to rain, clouds, fog, cold. In other words, fall. September first, and it has seemed like full autumn most of today, more late October or early November. The aspen lines are already fading from green to gold, have been for over a week now. In all that, it's been a beautiful day.

In most other ways, it's been crap. The truck is still in the shop; needs rear brakes, which will be another $500+. It's also gonna need a new catalytic converter eventually, but that's getting kicked down the road for a while. Yesterday's chemo has flattened me; I'm so far beyond exhausted I feel like I'm dying, and since I actually know what that feels like, having nearly done it multiple times nine years ago [and they still can't say why], it's not been a great day. Nothing is working on the pain; the meds aren't even taking the edge off. And shit just keeps piling on.

And there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. Red Willow Spirit: Gilded By Fall Sun and Petaled Flame

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an edition of Red Willow Spirit for the first day of September and of meteorological fall, for the contrast of blue and gold that marks this point in the season. It's two images, dating back seven and nine years respectively, nearly and to the very day, linked by a spectacular vintage-style work of wearable art, emblematic of our world now gilded by fall sun and petaled flame.
