Still gathering.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

This afternoon, when the storm was still gathering. August 31st, and summer's going out as though fall's already here, but late fall, mid-October and beyond. No, not nearly that cold, but the general look and feel, and the stormy weather, is more October than August.

And it is cold tonight, cold enough for the first fire of the season. It's a small fire, but it's needed, and it's a relief in so very many ways to have it back, even if it winds up being only for tonight.

Other than that, it's been a day, and nothing's gone smoothly save the shipping, and that was only because I was able tog et a ride in to the post office. The truck's still in shop; they say we should be able to pick it up tomorrow. It's a hell of a lot of money, and we now know that there will be more that will need to get done, just not this moment. Should've had it taken there back in June.

But today was chemo day, and I'm constantly having to juggle the dosing because nothing's working right, and I have felt like absolute hell over and above that besides. I'm so tired of all of it.

And there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. And we can still use help with shares, testimonials, wishlist stuff I can't get to yet, etc. To that end, links are here:

  • Sales here;
  • Testimonials here;
  • Amazon wishlist here [I'll be adding some new items soon, things we could really use but that I can't justify spending money on right now, like some sheets and towels];
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.
And we do still need to make those regular weekly sales, so please share all of the links. We really do need to get this year onto a better footing than the last two, a year that, so far, has been very grim.

Monday Photo Meditation: Autumn's Early Golden Glow

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a Monday Photo Meditation for the final day of meteorological summer, and for the gifts that await us in the season to come. It's an image that dates back six years virtually to the day, to August 20th, 2020, and a moment that captures autumn's early golden glow in beautiful form.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact form. We still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

Ready for it to get cold again.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Wings finally found a source for aspen, which burns a lot more cleanly than cedar and especially piƱon. So we shelled out for a delivery today, which means that we can mix woods when it gets cold enough for a fire. Last year, we couldn't find anyone who had aspen dry enough to burn; I think this is the first we'll have had in maybe three years.

And I'm ready for it to get cold again. We both are; we're fall and winter people, and this summer has been just utter bullshit. At least it was cooler this morning, thanks to last night's rain, although by mid-afternoon it was hot and miserable again. I'm much more productive when it's not a few degrees this side of hell out there.

And there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. The First of the Fall Light

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work to honor the light that holds the sky, offering us life and breath the whole year round. It's a pair of earrings adapted from of Wings's very much older works, manifest in an old classic form and shape perfectly suited to these days that bring us the first of the fall light.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact form. We still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

Just another sign of drought.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

The smoke haze was back this morning; of course, there's a new fire west of us.  The aspen line in also visibly gold already, has been for close to a week now. It's not really a sign of too-early fall, just another sign of drought.

Which seems somehow fitting for this god-awful year. Every week gets harder than the last, and there's no end in sight. There's also no respite from the pain, and now I have all these other symptoms to contend with, too.

And there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. Watching the Blue Sky Become the Rain

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work for the summer monsoon season, a pair of earrings to dance in the light and remind us how the sky becomes the rain. It's a pair suited to this evening here, too, as the forecast weather dances around us, and we hope and pray that we'll be watching the blue sky become the rain now.

Not a drop.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Beautiful rainclouds. Not a drop.

If the radar map is accurate, that might change overnight, but so far, it's been bone-dry, despite all the indications and predictions to the contrary. Which is stupidly apt, given how expensive and awful on every front this week has been.

The truck will not be done before Monday at the earliest; we've been warned that it's likely to be Tuesday, and possibly even Wednesday. Given that we were without it for more than half a month when the first guy screwed it up, it's doubly irritating now. Irritated with him, to be clear, not with the folks fixing it properly now. If it does take that long, my guess is that it will be because they've found more damage, which in turn will mean more [probably much more] expense.

At least the steroids are beginning to have an effect on my forearm and wrist. The swelling has been slowly diminishing all day, although it's got a good way to go. Of course, the steroids have also inflicted their usual monstrous headache, so I can't win either way. I'm just so tired, of all of it. Pain is exhausting; never getting a moment's respite from it, more exhausting still [and I don't; not ever]; and having to deal with the kind of bullshit we are right now from other quarters is grinding me into dust.

And there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. Friday Feature: From the Same Stardust As the Blue Sky Above Us

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a trio of works comprising three of Wings's more recent Skystone cuffs, all wrought in vintage style to powerful effect. Each shares tangible details with the others, and a cosmic and atmospheric sense of hope, too, reminding us that we are born from the same stardust as the blue sky above us.

It looks like foxfire.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

That was this evening. It's not bioluminescence, no fireflies or magic; just the light of the sun through a faint haze of clouds, catching the green of the evergreens at the base of the peaks and setting them aflame. But it looks like foxfire.

We didn't get any rain out any of it today, so imagine our surprise when the rain started somewhere around nine o'clock this evening. I guess the eclipse brought us an unexpected gift.

Which is a good way to end what's been an otherwise terrible day, near the end of an equally horrible week. The truck is in the shop; we're unlikely to have it back before Monday. The current estimate is in excess of $1,600, and we've already given them half of that to order the parts. But this is work that should have been done two months ago, when we were without the truck for more than half a month on what should've been a basic job.

On top of that, I'm on my second day of two bad subluxations, one hip and one wrist.  The former is bad, but the latter is killing me, because I can't do anything without use of my dominant hand, and the pain is absolutely murderous. I'm also now dealing with the side effects of doubling my usual steroid dose [which is a quarter of the dose I'm actually allowed, but the side effects are bad enough that I keep it as minimal as possible]. My chemo dose on Monday didn't seem to do much that was good for me, either, so on top of all the worsening and in some cases new symptoms, I don't even know if the meds are really working now. I'll have insomnia and a splitting headache tonight from the pred, though.

And there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. #TBT: Unexpected Blessings From a Blue Summer Sky

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's #ThrowbackThursday at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #TBT featured work that dates back just under three weeks, to a work that existed already, but became a commission, too. It's a ring, the heavy-gauge convex band stamped in a design that evokes the point when Art Deco met Mid-Century style, commissioned to add a powerful old turquoise cabochon, a serendipitous occurrence like the rain tonight, unexpected blessings from a blue summer sky.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. This work will never be duplicated, but if the style or stone speaks to your spirit, simply inquire via the site's Contact form; Wings can create a version uniquely your own.  We still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins  with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

Double rainbow.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

A full double rainbow. You couldn't see anything but the lower right of the outer arc with the naked eye; too much light. But the camera lens picked it up clearly. Feels like a benediction of sorts, one for Dolly, one for Tim Curry.

Otherwise, though? It's been a god-awful day, and there's not a damn thing I can do about any of it. I've got two major subluxes [partial joint dislocations], one in my radiocarpal joint in my dominant arm and wrist, and it's making every single thing absolutely impossible. The other is a hip sublux so bad that it's impairing my ability to stand, sit, and walk. But we had to run three errands today, and that involved a lot standing, walking, and carrying, and I'm in agony now. And those are the easier things to deal with; the rest of the day was much worse.

And this is why I don't go anywhere. One errand flattens me, and if I'm already having trouble with some group of symptoms? It's destructive, and I can't be unable to function this badly.

And there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. The Lines That Divide This Eternal Blue Sky

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an all-new masterwork for the meridian blues of summer, for the electric hues of morning and the web of stormclouds that should belong to the afternoon. It's a cuff wrought in classic style, with a pair of tiny hand-made ingot overlays framing six extraordinary stones, collectively signifying the lines that divide this eternal blue sky, and reminding us of our obligations relative to them all.

A strange day across the board.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

No big wild weather today; just four small showers, but a lot of cloud cover with them. It made for a strange day across the board.

It's been a difficult day, too. Not just because of the sudden loss of Dolly, although there's that. It's made all the more enraging by the fact that pure evil is still walking around, thriving, profiteering, harming, while one of the best people this world has known is now gone. [And I don't tend to give a shit about dead celebs, which is an indication of the respect I felt for that woman, and for the truly astonishing level of good work that she did, quietly, mostly unbeknownst to anyone until now, purely because it was the right thing to do.]

And for me, it's been, among other things, a scary one. As of today, I have some lovely all-new symptoms, frightening ones, and ones that might cast my recent alterations in other symptoms in a very different light. My eyes are now giving me problems, of the kind that could just become a constant annoyance, or could become something very much worse. Coupled with other recent symptoms, it looks like the thing the doctors all thought I had initially, decades ago: MS. My antibodies thus far have been lupus and RA, but also with some unidentifiable stuff, and it is possible to have MS along with the other two. It could also be vision [and a bunch of other] effects secondary to the lupus. But whatever it is, it's not good. And the fatigue is absolutely flattening me; I haven't had it be this bad in a good while now.

And there's no time for this crap. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an edition of Red Willow Spirit for the extreme weather of the rainy season, and for what follows in its wake. It looks like October.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

That was this evening. It looks like October, or even early November, not August. It's scary, all the more so because none of these fall-like effects are actually due to anything related to, well, fall.  They're all a direct result of drought.

And still, everyone who could do anything about any of it insists on deepening the drought, not correcting it.

No rain today, even though it was in the forecast by mid-afternoon. At least we got enough last night to make up for it; last night's weather was truly wild. It was also a relief, because yesterday was one of those days, full of markers of the kind better forgotten at this point, and I was glad to have plenty of distractions.

But also, I need not to have so many distractions from selling his work. I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. Monday Photo Meditation: What Dances Beneath a Blue Late-Summer Sky

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a Monday Photo Meditation for those post-storm moments of this point in the summer season, and the gifts that once were always a part of them. It's an image that dates back eleven years nearly to the very day, to August 27th, 2015, one that reminds us of what dances beneath a blue late-summer sky . . . a gift we have again, however improbably, in small and nascent form this year.

Speaking of making it rain . . . .

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

That? is rain. A cloudburst. The kind of rain we used to get here routinely in summer, except that now, with such storms much fewer and farther between, they're also more violent.

Still, cloudbursts are absolutely normal for now, and it's a relief to have them return, at least for the moment. It's still raining, two hours later, and there's a lot of lightning to the east still, too.

And we've needed this so badly.

And speaking of making it rain . . . . Of course, after the week I've had health-wise, I overdid it today, and I will no doubt pay for that tomorrow, especially given that tomorrow is also chemo day. Every day lately is steroid day, having to double up n the immunosuppressants just to breathe properly. But I have got to get caught up, and I've got to sell a lot more of all this new work he's cranking out daily now.

But I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. The Blue Sky Before the Storm Awakens

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work for the bright cloud-swept beauty of the mid-morning sky, before the summer storms of afternoon gather to hide it from view. What's coming.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

I noticed yesterday that the aspen line on the peaks was already going gold, almost two months too soon. Today, it was even more pronounced, on all of them.

Going gold, yes, but not fall change of color. No, this is drought at work. And it's terrifying.

That's to the east; the northern peaks are the same, and the southeastern ones are beginning to show it, too. To south and west, they're too distant for it to be visible to us, but it's probably the same. And across the highway, the stands of trees north and west of us, just across the road? They look like mid-November, sparse and dry.

Except, of course, it's still getting up at least into the mid-nineties every day.

Most people are completely unprepared for what's coming.

And, of course, none of it matters; all the bills have to be paid, we still have to fight with the state, the world is burning up and falling down around us, and all these stupid colonial institutions and systems and structures can do is keep extracting more, more, more all the time.

And for me, at least, my health lately seems to be worsening daily. I thought yesterday was bad, but that was before the pain kept me awake nearly the whole night. I had planned to get a lot caught up today, but the pain has been so crippling that I've gotten nothing done.

But I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. Summer's Most Transformative Fire

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a pair of works to remind us that in this land, a raining sun can also be a chrysalis sun, and a catalyst for the most powerful storms. It's a pair of pairs, earrings all, wrought in two very distinctive styles but both set with flame-orange jewels, together embodying the power and medicine of summer's most transformative fire.

A lot, that's all I know.

His newest in the bead series, all done except for the findings. This one will be pricey, because the beads all came from the expensive section:  high-grade royal lapis drum barrels, natural turquoise in two shapes/types, natural bamboo coral, indigo sodalite [almost no pink or white in those tiny beads anywhere], fine silver, sterling silver. It's phenomenal.

He's also got a commissioned cuff in the works, two other cuffs for inventory in various stages of the creative process, multiple pairs of earrings, and I don't know what else. A lot, that's all I know.

Now I just need to sell all of it. To do that, though, I need a lot better day than today was, because the month has caught up with me. Late yesterday afternoon/early yesterday evening, my right hip dislocated slightly. It's still out of place, but as a result, most of that side is also out of place, spasmed up, or otherwise being a problem because of trying to compensate for the hip dysfunction. I still have both rotator cuff tears, but the right one's been flaring for days now, which means my dominant side is mostly useless. All the things on my to-do list for today? Yeah, no.

But I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. This year has been hellishly expensive already, and we've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of this month, and that only happens if we make some sales now. And we can still use help with shares, testimonials, wishlist stuff I can't get to yet, etc. To that end, links are here:

  • Sales here;
  • Testimonials here;
  • Amazon wishlist here [I'll be adding some new items soon, things we could really use but that I can't justify spending money on right now, like some sheets and towels];
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.
And we do still need to make those regular weekly sales, so please share all of the links. We really do need to get this year onto a better footing than the last two, a year that, so far, has been very grim.

Friday Feature: Storm and Light Spread As Wings and Flames

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a masterwork to signify the beauty and abundance of summer, and for the small transformative spirits that embody it. It's Butterfly Maiden as you've never seen her before, a work wrought in memory, but to honor those mostly-absent spirits of this season, when storm and light spread as wings and flames.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact form. We still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

Not enough for a pattern.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Lots of stormclouds today, lots of wind and dust, and an hour or two of rain. That's two days straight of discrete rainstorms, which is encouraging, but not enough for a pattern.

Yet.

All the other patterns are irritants at best, and enraging at worst.

Of course, once again, everything's late. My pain levels are completely out of control now, and it appears that there's nothing I can do about it. It's making me slow, and my workload keeps increasing y the day, drastically so. And like I said yesterday, all I can do is keep slogging, moving on to the next thing, and the next, and the next. That includes all the time I'm losing to this bureaucratic nightmare, all because resentful colonizers won't do their damn jobs, and all the time I keep losing to other people's bullshit.

But I've got to bring in a lot more sales and I can't even get enough time to chase them because of everything else. #ThrowbackThursday: Dust and Clouds and a Dusky, Fiery Light

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's #TBT at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #ThrowbackThursday featured work that dates back only to April of this year, and a very special multi-part commission from a dear friend. It's a pair of earrings, part of a matching set of three works built around dusty red rhyolite cabochons, manifest in the high-desert summer's dust and clouds and a dusky, fiery light.

A real storm, real rain.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

That was at sunset, the front clearly visible as it departed. It was followed by another one later, but the strange thing is that, even though they're following the rhythms of the monsoonal patterns that we once had here, they're not actually following the patterns themselves. To do that, they would come from the southwest, and instead, these are  starting in the northeast, and moving around to the southeast, whence they move overhead for us now.

I have no idea what the correct term for these patterns would be. But it's a real storm, real rain, and we're grateful for it.

Also, you don't realize just how much drought makes the land stink, of dust and dirt and smoke, until you step outside after a real rainstorm and the whole world smells clean.

Of course, once again, everything's late. My pain levels are completely out of control now, and it appears that there's nothing I can do about it. From the Gentle Glow of Dawn to the Sunset's Flames

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a masterwork by any measure, a necklace manifest in all the shades of the sun. It's an extraordinary combining of three unusual and very varied gems, suspended from. strand of beads hand-selected specifically to match, capturing the whole of the light, from the gentle glow of dawn to the sunset's flames, and everything in between them.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact form. We still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.
