In process.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

One of the new pairs of earrings in the works.  Just simple onyx bezel-set cabs, the flange with simple stampwork, on wires. There 's a bit more to do before he sets them, never mind before they'll be ready to post. But they're in process.

It's been a lousy day, week, month. I'm tired, I'm fed up with having to deal with people's bullshit, and I'm sick of my condition just getting worse with no respite. If this heat doesn't break soon, it's going to kill me, and yes, that's hyperbole, but also not. It's entirely possible now, and I hate the fact that I have to live with this crap. And a whole two dozen drops of rain, as though the sky itself was mocking us.

I need it to rain in the metaphorical sense, too. We made one sale the other night, but I need to bring in several more this week, because I've got to order a bunch of supplies for him this week, and silver is absurdly expensive now [gouging; it's gouging], and will only get more so as we head into fall. I've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of before the first, and that only happens if we make some sales now. And we can still use help with shares, testimonials, wishlist stuff I can't get to yet, etc. To that end, links are here:

  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here [the current remaining priorities are the LaminaSaver for Miika, and the Farnam fly spray, which is the very last item on the list as it displays here, despite being "highest" priority, so go figure];
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.
And we do still need to make those regular weekly sales, so please share all of the links. We really do need to get this year onto a better footing than the last two, a year that, so far, has been very grim.

#TBT: In Darkness and In Light, Fanning the Flames of Hope

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's #ThrowbackThursday at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #TBT featured work that dates back only to the latter half of April of this year, and a special commission from a dear friend. It's a hair cuff set with a stone named for the Sacred White Buffalo of prophecy, a reminder that in darkness and in light, fanning the flames of hope is our obligation to the world, and to future generations.

The post is here. Wings's main page is hereThis work will never be duplicated exactly, but if the style or stone speaks to your spirit, simply inquire via the site's Contact form; Wings can create a version uniquely your own.  We still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins  with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

For so very, very many reasons.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Five of the six works currently in progress. The cuff at the upper right is now done; I'll post an image of it elsewhere later tonight, although I won't have it up on the site before sometime tomorrow.  He also has seven, I think, pairs of earrings in the early stages of work. Lots of gemstone-bead works are coming, too.

He's really getting a jump on holiday inventory this year.

Even if we're not getting much else, namely rain or any relief from the heat. I'm sick tonight, on two separate counts: heat exhaustion; and a hypoglycemic reaction. The latter was probably fed by the former. But two or three months after going off that pain-management medication [and I was only on it for a couple fo weeks, for the love of all that's holy]. I am still having horrible side effects. They're so bad that I'm starting to think that they're permanent, and that scares the hell out of me. I've never had this kind of inability to regulate body temperature; these days, being outside even a few minutes is making me dangerously ill.

Good lord, we need it to rain, for so very, very many reasons.

I need it to rain in the metaphorical sense, too. We made one sale the other night, but I need to bring in several more this week, because I've got to order a bunch of supplies for him this week, and silver is absurdly expensive now [gouging; it's gouging], and will only get more so as we head into fall. Day and Night Both Tend the Sacred Flame

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work for hope in this summer of extreme heat and drought, one for the work of searching for the sacred that is required of us now. It's an old-style tile collar necklace, updated in Wings's distinctive style, its blend of black and white reminding us that day and night both tend the sacred flame, and we must do the same.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact formWe still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

Sometimes, it's a poodle.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Sometimes, what the sky gives you is a real storm. Sometimes, it's a poodle.

We've got lightning now to the southwest; we had temps at or past the century mark and heavy-duty clouds most of the afternoon.

And still, not a single drop of rain.

I need it to rain in the metaphorical sense, too. We made one sale overnight last night, but I need to bring in several more this week, because I've got to order a bunch of supplies for him this week, and silver is absurdly expensive now [gouging; it's gouging], and will only get more so as we head into fall. I've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of before the first, and that only happens if we make some sales now. Also, he's got four or five new cuffs, a ring, and a necklace in the works currently, plus some gemstone-bead pieces and new earrings coming soon. And we can still use help with shares, testimonials, wishlist stuff I can't get to yet, etc. To that end, links are here:

Red Willow Spirit: Light's Fire, Dark's Shadow

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an edition of Red Willow Spirit for the work of surviving a summer season partially returned to us, yet more extreme than ever. It's two images linked by a single work of wearable art, all of them capturing the haunting beauty and raw power of an ancient world of light's fire, dark's shadow, and time's whirlwind.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact formWe still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

Far too close for comfort.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

That was this morning, and yes, it's every bit as close as it looks, far too close for comfort.

There was a time, not very long ago at all, that we wouldn't have worried much, because that's east of us, and our winds virtually always came from the west/southwest. Unfortunately, that's no longer true; indeed, virtually all of the storms we've gotten over the last few weeks [and non-storms, too, with no rain, just wind] have come not from points west but from the east. And the wind tried kicking up today while this was burning, but the Snowballs apparently got there early on and got it contained. The last of the smoke haze, however wispy, was gone by 4 PM.

Which doesn't mean that it can't reignite. there's also a big storm system just the other side of the ridgeline, and if the wind shifts, lots could change, and very fast. But all we c an do is hope and pray that everything's completely out, and nothing new ignites.

I would however, like to ignite some sales. We made one overnight, but I need to bring in several more this week, because I've got to order a bunch of supplies for him this week, and silver is absurdly expensive now [gouging; it's gouging], and will only get more so as we head into fall. Monday Photo Meditation: From Fire and Time Come Fragments In Black and White

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a Monday Photo Meditation for one of the flame-tempered arts of the summer season, and for its timeless gifts that last centuries, even millennia. It's an image that Wings took deliberately some dozen years ago for illustrative purposes, of ancient pottery sherds from his private collection and the truth that from fire and time come fragments in black and white.

Hope remains a stupid and stubborn thing.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Look at all those beautiful dark clouds. It's been like this all day, and not a drop of rain. The mercury shot up near 100 again, though.

::Sigh:: hope remains a stupid and stubborn thing.

Speaking of hope, that's probably the only thing that will get me through this week. I have seriously overdone it the last three days straight, which will probably knock me flat tomorrow, and I don't have time for that. I also have GOT to bring in some sales, preferably tonight, because I've got to order a bunch of supplies for him this week, and silver is absurdly expensive now [gouging; it's gouging], and will only get ore so as we head into fall. I've also got a couple of other big-ticket things to take care of before the first, and that only happens if we make some sales now. Of Dark and Light and the Flames of Night

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work for the lights of summer, for the little fires in the dark that keep us safely on the proper path. It's a pair of old-style loop earrings, a traditional design rendered in unusual materials that embody the gifts of our post-sunset world, of dark and light and the flames of night.

So much in the works.

Photo copyright Aji, ,2026; all rights reserved.

Me holding one of three new cuffs he's got currently in progress. All three are slender but solid; two have single larger stones, this one six smaller ones. There's also a ring in the works, and a multi-stone figurative necklace [jasper, turquoise, and citrine].

I said he was rockin'. He's got so much in the works, and a lot more in the way of ideas he's turning over in his mind, too. If he keeps going like this, we should have a really spectacular selection for the holidays this year.

Then, of course, I need to sell it all.

I need to make some sales this weekend, too. It's been a hugely expensive year thus far, and that's not changing anytime soon, apparently. This past week, it was all repair stuff that was years overdue, and supplies for his work. This coming week, more repair stuff, plus I need to order him a bunch of silver before it skyrockets again, and there a piece of equipment we need that's $300.

So I'm going to have to make this up with sales, and fast. I've already got to bring in a lot more sales than I expected us to need at this particular moment. July's always one of the worst months of the year in terms of expense, anyway, but this month has been an unholy mess of expenses, and I really need to make some of that up over the next few days, especially with more big, mostly one-off expenses looming fast. And we can still use help with shares, testimonials, wishlist stuff I can't get to yet, etc. To that end, links are here:

Friday Feature: The Spirits of a More Ancient Sky

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a pair of works that capture the beauty and power of this ancient land, and its resilience too. It's two necklaces wrought in traditional styles but updated with unusual elements, both of them infused with the spirits of a more ancient sky, and of the land and waters and light, as well.

Any day now.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Yes, out of order tonight. It's been a day: six separate errands, and we accomplished it all in under four hours, but it was a lot, and as badly as my body is handling just, you know, staying upright and breathing, this will wipe me out for several days to come.

I am not doing well, at all. But that's the nature of this illness, and I suspect it's not going to improve. This was the first time I've left the house in . . . I don't even know how long. Two weeks? more? and the reason I don't go anywhere is because one trip to the grocery store wipes me out for a week. Today, it was grocery store, two pharmacies, bank, post office, and the one fun part, which is what you see up there.

That's what an unholy amount of money looks like. Actually, it's a really good deal; if I had tried to buy him that same sort of collection online or at one of the bead ships [if there even still are any] in Santa Fe, it would have been much more, because our friends who run the local place price their offerings very fairly. And we've also been planning for this, because he needed to stock up before it's time to start building inventory for the holiday season.

Given that August first is right around the corner, that's basically any day now.

Still. I'm going to have to make this up with sales, and fast. Maddening.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Look at those beautiful black clouds. They were around most of the day, and delivered virtually nothing. It's maddening, the way the weather continually splits to go around this whole area, when we need the rain so desperately.

At least the clouds cool it off a little bit when they manage to get between us and the sun. when the sun's out, it's absolutely brutal. And with my newfound [medication-induced] heat sensitivity, I'm staying indoors as much as humanly possible these days.

Which, unfortunately, does not translate to getting more work done; new things keep getting added to my to-do list, and here we are, 11:15 PM once again, and again I'm barely under way on my own work. And I've actually got to bring in a lot more sales than I expected us to need at this particular moment. July's always one of the worst months of the year in terms of expense, anyway, but this month has been an unholy mess of expenses, and I really need to make some of that up over the next few days, especially with more big, mostly one-off expenses looming fast. #ThrowbackThursday: The Day's Blue Sky Births the Stars of Night

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's #TBT at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #ThrowbackThursday featured work that dates back some fifteen years, to September's end in 2011, a pair of earrings wrought in an old traditional style. These are, as always with Wings's work, layered with additional meaning, manifest as the truth that the day's blue sky births the stars of night.

Thunder beings.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

We got it all today, or almost all: sun, high heat [90s again], clouds, thunder, wind, rain. Even at sunset, the thunder beings were here, visibly as well as audibly. As far as the latter goes, Cricket's not thrilled by it, but he's used to it; Sunny hates it, and hides; Stormy's completely unbothered by it.

Still, even with only a little rain, this is closer to "normal" than we've had over most of the last nine years, so at least there's that. All in all, it's been a relatively decent day — except, of course, for that whole "can't get to my own work before 10 PM" thing. Today is also the date of the day we first met, all those many, many years ago. Hard to believe it's been that long, hard to believe everything we've been through and survived, but I guess lives like ours will either tear you apart or bind you together, and with us, it did the latter.

But I'll be up late again, because here I am, 11:15 PM, and barely under way on my own work. . And I've actually got to bring in a lot more sales than I expected us to need at this particular moment. July's always one of the worst months of the year in terms of expense, anyway, but this month has been an unholy mess of expenses, and I really need to make some of that up over the next few days. Rockin' in the studio.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Yesterday's work in progress at the back in the upper left; two others in the foreground. There are also two or three other works in various stages of completion on his workbench. That's normal; he always has multiple pieces in the pipeline. What's different now is how much is near completion, and how rapidly. He's been rockin' in the studio lately.

I, on the other hand, am making no such progress. It's not helping that the group work has ballooned into a full-time job [utterly unpaid, of course; it costs me, and dearly]. I'm spending way too much time on fundraising for other people and not nearly enough on my own work, never mind anything I like to do for enjoyment; I haven't had the time for that in months. And both have to change. People are perfectly content to let me do all the fundraising, while they can't even be bothered to share a single person's link, because they hold all the same goddamned biases about everyone else. Except themselves, of course. Maybe I'll take a whole week off from fundraising. See how much gets met. See who, if anyone except my besties, steps up. Because this pace is literally killing me.

And somehow I'm still expected to be able to get everything squeezed into a few minutes, as if by magic, everything everyone else wants from me and my own work, too, and I'm still expected to make sales. And I've actually got to bring in a lot more sales than I expected us to need at this particular moment. July's always one of the worst months of the year in terms of expense, anyway, but this month has been an unholy mess of expenses, and I really need to make some of that up over the next few days. Wings's newest, in progress.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Wings's newest, in progress. Those are overlays. I know it's a lousy shot, given the light, but if you enlarge you can in fact see the detail work, and it's amazing.

One good thing about of what has been a very difficult day. This is one of those days that's hard for reasons most people never understand; it's the 19th anniversary of the day my father walked on, and you'd have to know what my early [and even later] life was like to have even the slightest understanding of it. It's hard for all the opposite reasons that most people find such days hard.

It was also ungodly hot today, and after that two weeks' worth of that stupid medication, I can't take the heat now. But one of our chickens is missing, and I was outside this evening, mercury still about 90, for a good hour, searching. No luck. We can only hope she emerges overnight, but I suspect that Jade is gone, and she was one of my favorites.

That effort, in turn, left me dangerously overheated and sick as a result, and between all of that and all the other things I had to get done today and tonight, I'm only now, once again, getting to sit down to my work. And this has GOT to change. I'm going on strike for the rest of the week if I have to, but I'm not doing this shit again. I'm at the end of my fucking rope.

And somehow I'm still expected to be able to get everything squeezes into a few minutes, as if by magic, and I'm still expected to make sales. And I've actually got to bring in a lot more sales than I expected us to need at this particular moment. July's always one of the worst months of the year in terms of expense, anyway, but this month has been an unholy mess of expenses, and I really need to make some of that up over the next few days. And we can still use help with shares, testimonials, wishlist stuff I can't get to yet, etc. To that end, links are here:

  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here [the current remaining priorities are the LaminaSaver for Miika, and the Farnam fly spray, which is the very last item on the list as it displays here, despite being "highest" priority, so go figure];
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.
And we do still need to make those regular weekly sales, so please share all of the links. We really do need to get this year onto a better footing than the last two, a year that, so far, has been very grim.

Monday Photo Meditation: The Ethereal Light of the Post-Storm Sky

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a Monday Photo Meditation for the season we are yet denied, for its absent medicine and for what we should seek in its place. It's an image that dates back only to the final day of June, one to remind us to acknowledge, honor, and seek guidance from the ethereal light of the post-storm sky.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact formWe still have to ensure that we break even on the year, and that begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

And it starts all over again.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Beautiful morning, but a hot one. We did get about five drops in the middle of the afternoon; that's it, although they've gone from no chance of rain to 41% this evening, then up to 71%, and now back down to 55%, so who knows.

Rough day. Part of it is the incessant pain and the other, newer symptoms. Part of it is the kind of beyond-bone-deep exhaustion that doesn't have a name. And part of it is that I just feel so fucking sad all the time, and I can't figure out why, and then I remember last week, and it all starts all over again. Last week's is not the only one on the horizon, either, so everything's in a kind of stasis of grief, anticipatory and otherwise.

And I still have to get all my work done, and I still have to make sales. I've actually got to bring in a lot more sales than I expected us to need at this particular moment. The last two weeks have set us back about four grand in repairs, fixes, insurance, medical, and a bunch of other stuff [July's always one of the worst months of the year in terms of expense, anyway], and I really need to make some of that up over the next few days. And we can still use help with shares, testimonials, wishlist stuff I can't get to yet, etc. To that end, links are here:

A Sky For the Sun and the Rain

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work for the summer monsoons, and for the truth of the old Skystone story, that the sky sheds a single tear, and it becomes the rain. It's a pendant set with a truly extraordinary specimen of bright blue spiderwebbed turquoise, the very embodiment of a sky for the sun and the rain simultaneously.

Actually normal weather.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

I would say it was strange weather today, but actually that's only by recent standards. Today was actually normal weather for July here, a few sprinkles, one big cloudburst, and a lot of rain in it. It's just that we don't get normal anymore.

That, though, was this evening, after the rain had already moved out. We were still getting thunderheads building to the northeast, and right now, there's still lightning in the southwest, even this late. Whatever; we'll take it.

We were actually supposed to be at a friend's this evening for their birthday, but my body, which has been exceptionally bad all week, went fully on strike this morning, The pain was so bad that I even double-checked to see if I took my meds; sometimes, if I get pulled away after taking the first pill, I forget that I haven't yet taken the second, which is the one for pain. NOPE. It's just that it was extreme, the meds weren't even taking the edge off.

I would never have made it, though; that much is clear. And it sucks. This was one of those things we needed to do, and I was actually really looking forward to it, and . . . again, NOPE. This disease has taken so much, and it's going to take a lot more before it's done with me.

And, of course, the pain ruins my ability to concentrate, which is part of why everything is so late tonight. But it's got to get done. The Green of a Rich and Healthy Earth

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work to embody a powerful spirit, and for the truth that Eagle carries the medicine of earth and sky. And this work is the great raptor as you've never seen him before, a tangible reminder to us to call upon Eagle's medicine in the work of restoring and renewing the green of a rich and healthy earth.
