All the Stormy Force of a Buffalo Sky

Photo copyright Aji, 2023; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's Wings's most recent masterwork in its category, a tour de force of power and beauty and medicine animated by a powerful I/indigenous spirit. It's an old traditional-style collar necklace, five separate pendants hanging from an extraordinary strand of beads, embodying all the stormy force of a buffalo sky.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact form. We will still need to make consistent sales as we enter this fourth year of pandemic and loss, and there are many opportunities and occasions for gifts to come, so shares of the site links are much appreciated.

Waiting.

Photo copyright Aji, 2023; all rights reserved.

The crows are everywhere right now, watching, waiting.

Waiting for what? Who knows? Probably the apocalypse, so they can take over. They'll undoubtedly do a better job of running things that those in charge of the current systems and structures.

At that moment, though, I think it was mostly waiting for the snow to thicken, and then eventually shift to rain. We've had plenty of both already today.

And we have lots of mud.

And I'm staying indoors as much as humanly possible, because my symptoms are off the charts, and I need to get the tax stuff finished and turned over. I also need to be able to focus on making sales.

And as I keep saying, we have new work! The bolo is done, and it's here, and it's fabulous. There's another cuff (amethyst), plus a casual necklace and a bolo (both turquoise, in very different styles). I posted those a few nights ago, here and here. I also got Wings's newest ring posted a few weeks ago, and more importantly, I got that incredible new collar-style necklace up, here (and you need to see it, all of it, all of the photos of all five pendants and the beads). It's extraordinary, and it's looking for its home. I also got the last new cuff, pendant, and earrings posted two weeks ago, here; the pendant is sold, but the other two remain available for immediate purchase (and they're both ::wow::). And speaking of waiting, in a few days, we'll have two or three new pieces, too. All of our links are here; emphasis on sales and testimonials for now:

  • Sales here;
  • Testimonials here;
  • Amazon wishlist here (the Zero-Odor sprays are the priority right now; the house smells constantly of wet dog at the moment, and we can't get these locally);
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.

There's lots of fabulous work on the site, so please share all of the links.

Red Willow Spirit: The First Spring Medicine

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an edition of Red Willow Spirit for this shift in seasons and the climatic and weather changes that accompany it. It's a tribute to the transformative power of snow become rain, and of the gifts of the first spring medicine in a land long plunged into a record drought.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. As always, his photos are available in any of the usual three formats; simply inquire via the site's Contact form. We will still need to make consistent sales as we enter this fourth year of pandemic and loss, and there are many opportunities and occasions for gifts to come, so shares of the site links are much appreciated.

It's getting to be a lot.

Photo copyright Aji, 2023; all rights reserved.

Lots of snow.

Which is not the same as lots of accumulation; it's not sticking, particularly, but it's falling, which means it's being absorbed, so it's all good.

Two more days of this in the forecast, too.

This is going to be a ridiculously busy week, and I'm already so far behind even without what's coming. And I'm extra, extra slow these days, too (as well as buried under a ton of other stuff), so I need to get on it. I also need to chase sales this week and next, but I already know I won't have any time for it.

I'm also dealing with more symptoms, more pain, and that, apparently, is not going to get easier. Certainly not for the next three months, because spring is the worst season for me every year anyway. But the rashing, the painful nodules and swelling, the pain that knifes through my hips and knees and feet and hands constantly . . . it's getting to be a lot.

And I need to get the tax stuff finished and turned over, and I also need to be able to focus on making sales.

Fecause we have new work! The bolo is done, and it's here, and it's fabulous. [It was also Sunday's featured work at The NDN Silver Blog.] There's another cuff (amethyst), plus a casual necklace and a bolo (both turquoise, in very different styles). I posted those a few nights ago, here and here. I also got Wings's newest ring posted a few weeks ago, and more importantly, I got that incredible new collar-style necklace up, here (and you need to see it, all of it, all of the photos of all five pendants and the beads). Monday Photo Meditation: The Earth's Annual Reclaiming

Photo copyright Wings, 2023; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a Monday Photo Meditation for a day that is both winter and spring, even though winter snows predominate now. Despite the flakes falling outside the window, the earth is newly green and the bare branches reach skyward, a sign of the earth's annual reclaiming of its abundance, of growth, of life.

So much for spring.

Photo copyright Aji, 2023; all rights reserved.

A little portal of blue. Already, though, the clouds are moving in fast. Originally, the snow was supposed to start around midday tomorrow, but now they're predicting tonight.

So much for spring.

Which is fine, actually; we'll take it and be grateful. Aside from the desperate need for water here, we'd both much rather skip from winter straight to summer, leaving behind all the trickster winds (and, in a good year — and the jury's still out on whether this will be a good year or not — the mud).

Of course, we already have mud. Yesterday's mercury rose way too high, and melted off more than half of the accumulation from the day before. Even the elk noticed; most of the herd came down to our south boundary about 4:30 yesterday (actually 3:30, of course), in broad daylight, and after a little light grazing, lay down in the chamisa to snooze in the sun. [They came back overnight, too, to feed and find fresh water and roll in the snow.]

This is going to be a ridiculously busy week, and I'm already so far behind even without what's coming. And I'm extra, extra slow these days, too (as well as buried under a ton of other stuff), so I need to get on it. Those End-of-Winter Blues

Photo copyright Aji, 2023;

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work for the last full day of winter, and for the work of the sheltering skies that still hold the medicine of the cold season. It's a day for those end-of-winter blues, but in this place, they're cause not for sadness, but for the joy to be found in the land's survival.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact form. We will still need to make consistent sales as we enter this fourth year of pandemic and loss, and there are many opportunities and occasions for gifts to come, so shares of the site links are much appreciated.
