A bundle of allergies.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Yes, it's beautiful backlit by the rising sun, but it's a source of abject misery. It's also here two months early. I'm nothing but a walking — okay, hobbling, but whatever, a bundle of allergies now. It was so bad this morning that I had to dig out my Cromolyn eyedrops, because even the steroids and the chemo [yes, it's that day] wouldn't touch it. Which also meant I had to leave my lenses out for another hour or two, because that ish burns like a . . .well, you know.

At least now I can see again without trying to claw my eyes out.

Over the last little while, those thin white clouds have turned into something more. But it'll be like yesterday; nothing that holds any rain for us. Everything is so dry, and the fires not that far north of here are a star reminder of just how vulnerable we all are here now.

In the meantime, I've got to get our taxes done and wrapped up and to the accountant this week, without fail. Which means I'll have no time for anything else. I did manage to get those three new works up last night, here, here, and here. They're all phenomenal, and given how badly we need to make some sales right now, I hope they all find their homes before I even have a chance to feature them. Because the last five months, pushing six now, have been this way, nonstop, and I'm still not caught up on housework, taxes, OR sales. Which is not good, because we still have to bring in sales weekly to break even. To that end, links are here:

  • Sales here

  • Amazon wishlist here [and to whomever sent a bunch of stuff off it that arrived today, THANK YOU; there were no purchaser inserts with the items, zip, zero, nada];

And we do still need to make those regular weekly sales, so please share all of the links. We really do need to get this year onto a better footing than the last two, and so far, it's been pretty grim.

Monday Photo Meditation: Aspen Spring Blues

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a Monday Photo Meditation for these first days of official spring, for the last days of March when conditions look and feel like May. It's an image from fourteen years ago almost to the very day, and for the annual aspen spring blues that assume a very different form now.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact formIt's March, taxes looming, and we need to get caught up. That begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

I don't have time for this shit. Literally.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Some unexpected clouds today. The weather people are also saying we're going to get a little rain, but nah. I mean, I suppose we could get a single drop or three, but these clouds are too high, too thin, and too distant to hold anything for us in their current state. They'd have to change a lot for this to bring us anything.

New week, and it started off just fantastic, by which I mean the opposite, of course. I finally got to bed around 1 AM, and I just got settled and comfortable and the dogs came running up, demanding to go out. They had, of course just been out, and since I knew there were coyotes in the field on the northwest side of the house, we refused. Wings ordered them to go downstairs, but instead they just camped out in the bedroom doorway, making pains in the ass of themselves. He doesn't hear it, so he went right back to sleep. Me? Notsomuch.

So I finally got up, let them out, and went downstairs . . . and of course, they wanted back in almost immediately. By now, I'm wide awake, natch, so I did some work until around 3, maybe a little after. Went into the kitchen to refill my water and shut off the light, came int the living room to shut down my laptop, and OF COURSE they suddenly HAVE to go out again. So I had to wait another 20 minutes or so. Finally got upstairs and crashed; came down this morning to find that apparently the neighbors' cows were in the south field at some point? Because Sunny, who is of course the white dog, had rolled joyously in cowshit, and now has it EVERYWHERE, body, neck, legs, face. He's no longer white; he's dark green and dirty off-white.  And he REEKS.

I don't have time for this shit. Literally.

And the last five months, pushing six now, have been this way, nonstop, and I'm still not caught up on housework, taxes, OR sales. Which is not good, because we still have to bring in sales weekly to break even. To that end, links are here:

The Signs and Shadows of Spring

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work perfect for the gentle beauty of the dawn, a stormy desert twilight that bequeathed us a small chance of rain for this day. It's one of Wings's newer pairs of earrings, and a personal favorite, too, freehand silverwork framing extraordinary stones, together manifest in the signs and shadows of spring.

Spring colors.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Look at all those spring colors. Lots of grass now; just a shame that it's requiring watering because we didn't get any snow. [Yes, I know that technically we had "snow," just as technically we had "winter," but our snowpack is something like 17% of "normal," so . . . .]

The aspens on the east side are dripping with pollen. We shouldn't have that until May. And it hit 80 again well before noon, so it's another hot one already.

Today is a day to try to catch up on some things here. The fridge is still not cooling properly. It's cooler, and the freezer works fine, but it's not cold enough yet. I do not want to have to buy a new refrigerator. Not with taxes due.

I've also got to get those done, and other paperwork, and housework, and his new work up, and and and . . . .  And I don't have time for any of it, for the love of all that's holy. This week has had me slammed on so many fronts I can't even think straight. And still, I have to find time to chase sales, because if I don't bring those in, nothing else gets done, either. I'm determined to get the two new cuffs and the necklace up by tonight, regardless. But to do that, I need fewer interruptions across the board.

And the last five months, pushing six now, have been this way, nonstop, and I'm still not caught up on housework, taxes, OR sales. Which is not good, because we still have to bring in sales weekly to break even. To that end, links are here:

The Cool Quiet Shimmer of a New Light

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work perfect for these days when winter has ended both officially and otherwise, and when spring feels more like June. It's a pair of classic concha earrings set with rose quartz, a perfect wearable reminder of this season's now-daily gift of the cool quiet shimmer of a new light.

Oh, whatever.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

At least Miika got to enjoy the first day of official spring. Me, notsomuch. Or, you know, at all. But there's no rest for the weary. Or the wicked. Or something.

No sleep last night. None. Equal parts acute chronic pain and just general autoimmune fuckery, because that's what lupus and RA do: cause chronic insomnia for no reason other than that they can. So I finally gave up, got up, and this day has just been . . . oh, whatever.

Our fridge stopped cooling at the beginning of the week. I had to haul it out of its space today [and wow, do I not want to have to clean behind it like that again, which means I guess I need to haul it out every 6 months, at least, and do this, because ew], disconnect everything, scrub and mop and vacuum everything, defrost everything [on an allegedly frost-free freezer], and then figure out the problem. Which was apparently a leak [stupid ice maker that has been trash from Day 1] blocking the recirculating air vents. Anyway, it's finally starting to cool again now, but on no sleep, I've spent the day up and down ladders and lifting and hauling and scrubbing and just general bullshit, and I will good for absolutely nothing all weekend as a result.

And next, I have to figure out the stupid door lock. I hate proprietary crap. And it's been crap since the day the installers hung it the wrong damn way, so . . . .  That windstorm in 2018 that took half the stable roof off? Also took out that door. Wings was sitting at the island, I was at the sink, and there was this massive crash between us; the door, glass and all, fell straight onto the floor. Nobody hurt, nothing broke, and we're just grateful for that. But it happened because those numpties hung the freaking hinges UPSIDE-DOWN.

If you've asked me for something, I'll get to it when I can. I'm sorry, but I can't promise anything more than that. I'm dealing with extreme health/medical issues right now, plus the business, plus household/animals/land, plus taxes, plus 1,001 other demands on my time, and I'm not doing well at any of it, because the pain will simply not let go. People are just going to have to deal with me being perpetually late and behind on everything.

And I don't have time for any of it, for the love of all that's holy. This week has me slammed on so many fronts I can't even think straight. And still, I have to find time to chase sales, because if I don't bring those in, nothing else gets done, either.

And if I could just make several sales [because we're about six weeks behind where we need to be on the year, already], I'd feel a hell of a lot better about everything. I'm going to try, again, to get this necklace and the now-TWO new cuffs up tonight, but no promises. The last five months have been this way, nonstop, and I'm still not caught up on housework, taxes, OR sales. Friday Feature: The Chill and the Glow of a High-Desert Dawn

Photo copyright Aji, 2026;

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a pair of seasonal works that were created not to match precisely, but to coordinate with and complement each other as well as stand entirely on their own. It's a necklace and a coil bracelet from Wings's signature series of gemstone-bead works, these capturing the chill and the glow of a high-desert dawn, a moment of magic in an unsettled and unseasonal time.

The new cuff.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

The new cuff bracelet, completed. I doubt that I'll have it up tonight, but it's truly phenomenal. I'll try, though.

It's been a damn day. I woke up before dawn with my body completely twisted and and my head splitting as a result; went back to bed for a little while, but I had too many joint subluxations [partial dislocations] all over my body, plus that annoying numbness and constriction around my thoracic spine, and there's no sleep at that point anyway.

If you've asked me for something, I'll get to it when I can. I'm sorry, but I can't promise anything more than that. I'm dealing with extreme health/medical issues right now, plus the business, plus household/animals/land, plus taxes, plus a broken door lock and an apparently breaking fridge, plus 1,001 other demands on my time, and I'm not doing well at any of it, because the pain will simply not let go. People are just going to have to deal with me being perpetually late and behind on everything.

#ThrowbackThursday: The Icy Jewel of a Rose Quartz Sunrise

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's #TBT at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #ThrowbackThursday work from the end of last year, one that beautifully captured our own conditions here this morning. It's a hair cuff, one of four commissioned simultaneously by a dear friend and a personal favorite of my own, Art Deco silverwork set with the icy jewel of a rose quartz sunrise like the one we had on this last full day of official winter.

The post is here. Wings's main page is hereThis work will never be duplicated exactly, but if the general style speaks to your spirit, simply inquire via the site's Contact form; Wings can create a version uniquely your own. It's March, taxes looming, and we need to get caught up. Try, *again*.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

That's the new heart that I should have had posted almost a week ago now. The cuff? even longer. I can't even begin to get to everything I need to do every day.

Everyone thinks I'm ignoring them when it come to the mutual-aid work, but I'm a lot farther behind in my own work than I am in that. People just have no idea the level of need out there, nor the number of folks I'm dealing with at any one time. If you think it's just you? Better multiply that by at least a dozen. Then add on all of my own work, household, animals, taxes, etc. Oh, and all the acute chronic pain and health issues; this is the worst time of year for that, too. I don't get a vacation. I don't get much rest at all.

People are just going to have to deal wit me being perpetually late and behind on everything.

I'm going to try, again, to get this necklace and the new cuff up tonight, but no promises. [I also had photos of this necklace last week, but when I downloaded them, I realized that the strand was offset, so I had to take new ones just now to correct for that.] The last five months have been this way, nonstop, and I'm still not caught up on housework, taxes, OR sales. A World That Flowers in the Cold First Light

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work featuring a unique and rare material, illustrating the truth that love flowers from an iron heart. It's a truth at once metaphorical and tangible too, perfect for this season and a world that flowers in the cold first light of day.

Cosmic.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

This one is going to be cosmic. I mean that descriptively; the stones he's using will look like stardust and light, and the stampwork is celestial, too.

A few more days, and it'll be done.

A few more days, and my sanity will be done, too, if I can't catch a break. Still nothing on yesterday's three new hells, but more have been added since. And I don't have time for any of it, for the love of all that's holy. This week has me slammed on so many fronts I can't even think straight. And still, I have to find time to chase sales, because if I don't bring those in, nothing else gets done, either.

And if I could just make several sales [because we're about six weeks behind where we need to be on the year, already], I'd feel a hell of a lot better about everything.I have another cuff to post, hopefully tonight, and the new heart necklace, as well. Both are set with turquoise, both fabulous.  And I've begun reorganizing the site galleries so that the newer work appears first, but it's slow going, mostly because I can't get any uninterrupted time to concentrate on it The last five months have been this way, nonstop, and I'm still not caught up on housework, taxes, OR sales. Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an edition of Red Willow Spirit for these days that should mark the last dance between winter and spring, but instead beckon summer onward now. Some fresh new hell.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Not a good shot compositionally, but scroll down; look at yesterday's. Today, you can actually see: mountains, sky, light. No more of that dirt-pall nonsense.

Not as windy today, for one; also substantially warmer by day's end. Not a huge differential in terms of degrees, but the milder winds made all the difference. Still congested and asthmatic from yesterday, though, even though I wore a mask when I went outside. But that's lupus airway/lung damage for you.

Of course, every day brings some fresh new hell, health-related or otherwise. Today, it was waking up with an allergic reaction: hives, when I haven't ingested anything that usually causes them [fresh tomatoes or one of three different medications], so now I need to figure out what the new allergy is, and I have no idea. It was also waking up to find that the lock had broken off in the side door, and the fridge was not cooling. The first is in process; the second I'm troubleshooting now.

And I don't have time for any of it, for the love of all that's holy. This week has me slammed on so many fronts I can't even think straight. And still, I have to find time to chase sales, because if I don't bring those in, nothing else gets done, either.

Monday Photo Meditation: Gilded By the Dawn of Winter's End

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a Monday Photo Meditation for this last week of official winter in a year when it hasn't felt like that season at all. It's a photo shot by Wings on film somewhere in the vicinity of twenty years ago, illustrating what was then one of the small but significant gifts of this season, of forested slopes and snow-edged parapets and clay walls gilded by the dawn of winter's end.

Wind and wildfire season, here early.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Look at that nonsense. It looks like cloud cover, right? Like snow, moving our way. Maybe mist? fog? maybe even smoke?

Nope. It's dust. Dirt. Driven in on gale-force winds, left to hang in the air as though it were an actual a pall of smoke. No wonder we can't breathe. I wore a mask when I went outside today, because who needs this crap in their sinuses and lungs, especially when I have enough trouble with both already thanks to the lupus. I also went outside as seldom as possible, because see above.

The cloud cover is clearing now, near the end of the day, which is incredibly irritating because the dust is not. I love the clouds; they can hang around all they like. Maybe even drop some snow. But this? This is some bullshit. It also means that it's wind and wildfire season, here early.

We're supposed to have very cold temps tonight, the be back up around 80 by mid-week. I don't imagine the wind is going anywhere; we're likely stuck with that until summer now. And this week has me slammed on so many fronts I can't even think straight. And still, I have to find time to chase sales, because if I don't bring those in, nothing else gets done, either.

It's a pair wrought in spare and classic style, a pair of old matched cabochons of icy-pale rose quartz. framed in sterling silver, embodying the cold gentle glow of a new day

Not today.

The three amigos, in a rare moment of [relative] quiet. They've got it made, and they know it. That's Sunny on the left, Stormy in the middle, and Cricket, the [in]famous feral, sprawled out on the right with such a lack of any dignity whatsoever.

They're all spoiled rotten.

Us, notsomuch. Neither of us expects the workload to diminish, but it would nice if we could get the occasional day where it's not actively piling on an endless new list of tasks. That day is not today, though. And for me, at least, I'm already so far behind on everything that I don't dare spend much time thinking about everything I have to get done, or I'd be paralyzed into doing nothing at all.

If I could just make several sales [because we're about six weeks behind where we need to be on the year, already], I'd feel a hell of a lot better about everything. There are five new pairs of earrings on the site, all in the appropriate gallery. There's an extraordinary new necklace up too, here. The newest work will be up soon, too [possibly tonight, and hopefully including the new heart necklace, if the beads are done by then]. And I've begun reorganizing the site galleries so that the newer work appears first, but it's slow going, mostly because I can't get any uninterrupted time to concentrate on it The last five months have been this way, nonstop, and I'm still not caught up on housework, taxes, OR sales. Which is not good, because we still have to bring in sales weekly to break even. To that end, links are here:

  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here [priorities are the LaminaSaver, because apparently Miika's out of it again; and the rugs, to replace those destroyed 2 years ago by the leachfield collapse and ensuing septic disaster];
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.
And we do still need to make those regular weekly sales, so please share all of the links. We really do need to get this year onto a better footing than the last two, and so far, it's been pretty grim.

The Blue of the Mid-Morning Sky

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's one of Wings's all-new pairs of earrings, completed only days ago and manifest in the shades and spirits of this early spring. It's a pair wrought freehand in a classic design, spare and elegant, with matched turquoise cabochons in the blue of the mid-morning sky.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact formIt's March, taxes looming, and we need to get caught up. That begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

Not even up on the site yet.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Two new cuffs, just completed this afternoon and not even up on the site yet.  The heart pendant is also done, and that actually is indeed for sale; I misunderstood which piece was for what earlier. It still needs to have the beads strung, so it will probably be ready tomorrow sometime.

Friday the thirteenth, and this day has gone like the whole rest of this week. A little local excitement here yesterday, but the work never ends, and right now, it's piling up like all the rest, because I just can't get enough hours in the day to catch up.

Or enough sales, either.

If I could just make several sales [because we're about six weeks behind where we need to be on the year, already], I'd feel a hell of a lot better about everything. There are five new pairs of earrings on the site, all in the appropriate gallery. There's an extraordinary new necklace up too, here. Tonight or tomorrow, the newest work will be up, too [probably tomorrow, because it's already after 8 PM and I'm nowhere on my daily work]. and I've begun reorganizing the site galleries so that the newer work appears first, but it's slow going, mostly because I can't get any uninterrupted time to concentrate on it The last five months have been this way, nonstop, and I'm still not caught up on housework, taxes, OR sales. Friday Feature: A Blue Braid of Medicine

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a pair of works that were created entirely independently of each other, but very clearly belong together. It's a pendant and a cuff that are set with extraordinary Skystones from the same parcel, together manifest as a blue braid of medicine to heal our world, and us.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact formIt's March, taxes looming, and we need to get caught up. That begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

Light instead of wind, however briefly.

Photo copyright Aji, 2026; all rights reserved.

Beautiful sky tonight. After I took that shot, it turned a deeper rose color, but it shifted so fast that it wasn't as fiery, so I went with this one. Nice to have light instead of wind, however briefly.

Every day this week has been just slammed, and today was no exception.  The result is that my pain levels are so high that nothing works, and I'm just having to slog through everything in spite of it, which means I'm really slow. And I can't afford slow right now.

If I could just make several sales [because we're about six weeks behind where we need to be on the year, already], I'd feel a hell of a lot better about everything. #TBT: The Four Corners of a Bright Blue Sky

Photo copyright Wings, 2026; all rights reserved.

It's #ThrowbackThursday at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #TBT featured work that dates back some seventeen years, to the end of July of 2009. It's a ring set with a simple yet truly spectacular turquoise cabochon, the whole evoking, in the gift of wearable form, the four corners of a bright blue sky.

The post is here. Wings's main page is hereThis work will never be duplicated exactly, but if the general style speaks to your spirit, simply inquire via the site's Contact form; Wings can create a version uniquely your own. It's March, taxes looming, and we need to get caught up. That begins with a minimum of one sale a week, without fail.

And speaking of time . . . .

Photo copyright Aji, 2026;

More work in progress. This one looks remarkably delicate for its size. It's going to have a blue spiderweb turquoise heart cab in it. It's also one that is not for sale; it's for a friend of ours.

There are about six other items currently in various stages of progress, too, plus another half-dozen [at least] in the "percolating in his brain" stage. He's not remotely lacking for ideas, only studio time.

And speaking of time . . . it's been a day. I'm still not caught up from everything going on last week, never mind DST and all the rest. Unfortunately, we've got lots of wind here, which means lots of pain, and absolutely nothing touches it. Just standing and walking are hard right now. And, of course, I've still got tax shit to deal with. And all of it puts me further behind than I already am, which is making me grumpy as hell.

But the five new pairs of earrings are all up, as of a few nights ago; you can see them on the site at the head of the appropriate gallery now. The new necklace is also up now, here. I've begun reorganizing the site galleries so that the newer work appears first, but it's slow going, mostly because I can't get any uninterrupted time to concentrate on it The last five months have been this way, nonstop, and I'm still not caught up on housework, taxes, OR sales.
