The Medicine of a Winter's Night Sky

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's one of Wings's newest works, one manifest as the medicine of night. It's a pair of earrings in the shapes and shades and animating spirits of the medicine of a winter's night sky, all deep violet amethyst and shimmering silver light.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact form. We're a month into this new calendar year and facing complications and costs carried over from the end of last year, which means that we will need to make consistent sales, so shares are very much needed and much appreciated.

Still coming down.

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

Real snow. Still coming down out there. We're at a little over four, five inches right now; supposed to get another inch or two tonight. And if the forecast is right, the deep freeze that follows won't be as deep as usual.

Not that that's a good thing; it's just one more indication of a climate in collapse. But it's a lot easier on my joints, so I'm not going to argue too strenuously against it right now. Especially considering the way they're screaming at me now, after days of unsettled weather and yesterday's hours on my feet on hard surfaces.

Today is also the ten-year anniversary of the day we lost Major, our big guy, the one who had been my parents' dog. Another casualty of the cancer cluster that plagues this place, for dogs and horses and people too. That day was very different: no snow falling, albeit plenty on the ground, and a very anemic sun through pale gray skies. It seems impossible that it's been a full decade already, but here we are.

Of course, a lot since then is impossible to believe, too, especially all my health complications since then. I wish I could say that all the evils, all the degeneracy and depravity and disintegration of the world in those intervening ten years was impossible to believe, too, but unfortunately, our own experience tells us that it's all too believable. And still the world demands from us constantly, and there's no respite.

As of yesterday, I did manage to bring in enough sales to average out to one a week for the year so far. Now, I need to replicate that for the next eleven months. One sale a week doesn't seem like much, but last year, we went months at a stretch with none at all, and we're dealing with the fallout from that still. And for this year? Taxes are due in a few weeks. That's non-negotiable. But we are also cursed with this septic system mess, and the guy who does the work of fixing these kinds of disasters [who we know; he's a good guy] 1) is unlikely to be able to do it before well into March, and 2) is convinced, based on our description and what the septic cleanout guys have told us, that it's going to require digging a whole new leachfield. We don't have that kind of money.

On top of that, my laptop is dying, and I don't have the kind of money I need to replace it [the image work I do means that it has to have a certain level of power]. It's been on the decline for three or four months, but I thought I had more time; last night, it became clear that it's going to be a very big problem sooner rather than later. If I can't replace it, I can't work; if I can't work, there's no income.

Oh, and at some point, I'm going to need a power wheelchair.

My Patreon down $250 again; that's both January's payout and now February's. That's a huge hit for us, but it's even worse right now, since we're already paying out $200+ every 8-10 days to have the tank pumped, because the water has nowhere to go [and believe me, we're conserving as much as we can]. All this nonsense comes in one of our two most costly months of the year as it is, and in the same quarter as taxes, and no amount of tearing my hair out is going to make all this reconcile, but here we are. Amid the constant, unremitting physical pain and the ugly new developments and complete and utter lack of an immune system in a place where no one mitigates the pandemic in the slightest, leaving me almost entirely housebound.

Which is why the only way out of this is SALES.

I got the Wings's four new pairs of earrings up yesterday: here, here [this pair sold now, too], here [and also this one], and here [this pair already sold too; he has more planned in this size/style]. The other works were posted the day before: the ring and four pairs of earrings, here, here, here, here, and here. These are all more moderately priced than most of his work, and the silverwork and stones are absolutely incredible . . . and Valentine's Day is only two weeks away, so go look. This week's sales won't begin to cover what's waiting for us, but it'll keep basic monthly expenses paid. As always, all the links are listed below, and sales are the most important:

  • Sales here;
  • Testimonials here;
  • Amazon wishlist here (priorities now are the liquid soaps and the descalers that I can't get here;
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.

There's lots of fabulous work on the site about a dozen all told over the last three weeks or so, cuffs and earrings and pins and necklaces and more earrings [and soon, new Warrior Woman pins, too]. After such a grim 2023, we really need to get this year started off on a better footing, so please share all of the links.

The Stardust Blues of Winter

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's a work for cold clear nights and the diamond-beaded skies of the darkest hours, a work for the hope and truth of birth and rebirth and being. It's a pair of earrings wrought in and named for the stardust blues of winter, for the sight and sound of the newest star, the newest world, being born.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact form. We're a month into this new calendar year and facing complications and costs carried over from the end of last year, which means that we will need to make consistent sales, so shares are very much needed and much appreciated.

Finally snowing. Kind of.

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

It's finally snowing. Kind of.

Just a dusting after four hours, like the early dusting this morning. Rain from just after midnight until sometime around dawn. Between mid-morning and mid-afternoon, too high temps, no precipitation, and then suddenly a trickster wind that dropped the mercury twenty points in a matter of minutes.

April weather.

Today was one of those "errand" days that meant that no regular work got done until now, well after dark. It also meant hours on my feet, including close to an hour in line at the new pharmacy. My legs and feet are killing me; then again, so are my hands, and everything else.

Despite the pain, I'm overjoyed to report that I shipped three orders this morning, and have a fourth to ship on Monday, which means that we are finally current with the "one sale a week" pace that I need to maintain to keep our heads above water over the course of the year. Now, I need to replicate that for the next eleven months. One sale a week doesn't seem like much, but last year, we went months at a stretch with none at all, and we're dealing with the fallout from that still.

Friday Feature: The Blue of Storm and Winter Night

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a pair of related works that share a family resemblance and much more, both of them a tribute to the gift of The First Medicine. It's a pair of cuffs created to honor the water in whatever form it chooses to appear, clear puddles from the early rain or a blanket of snow falling now, all reflecting the blue of storm and winter night from their healing depths.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact form. We're a month into this new calendar year and facing complications and costs carried over from the end of last year, which means that we will need to make consistent sales, so shares are very much needed and much appreciated.

There's a new storm on the way.

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

Snow's almost entirely gone, even on the peaks. But there's a new storm on the way, and we've gone from "accumulations <1 over the next 48 hours" this morning to "accumulations 7" over the next 48 hours" now. That's a pretty big jump for about 6 hours. My guess, of course, is that it'll be somewhere between the two, but it will definitely be something; my joints are screaming at me in the way they do only when there's heavy weather on the way.

Be nice if there were fewer of the other kind of storms on the way, though, but there's no getting out of any of it. The most recent was day before yesterday.

If I could make one more sale this week, I'd at least be current  [it won't begin to cover what's waiting for us, but it'll keep basic expenses paid]. As always, all the links are listed below, and sales are the most important:

  • Sales here;
  • Testimonials here;
  • Amazon wishlist here (priorities now are the liquid soaps and especially the vacuum, because mine has died a complete and ignominious death, and if I don't vacuum every single day, the dog hair takes over completely [and the dustbuster is just not cutting it]);
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.

There's lots of fabulous work on the site about a dozen all told over the last three weeks or so, cuffs and earrings and pins, plus the necklace and earrings to come. After such a grim 2023, we really need to get this year started off on a better footing, so please share all of the links.

#TBT: Sacred Paths and Medicine Blues

Photo copyright Aji, 2024; all rights reserved.

It's #ThrowbackThursday at The NDN Silver Blog, with a commissioned entry in one of Wings's most closely held signature series, a #TBT work that dates back some four to six years ago. It's the Warrior Woman, this one with a single wholly unique detail that provides her name, identity, and animating spirit, one of sacred paths and medicine blues for a world in need of healing and guidance.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. As always, this work will never be duplicated exactly, but if the style speaks to your spirit, simply inquire via the site's Contact form; Wings can create a version uniquely your own. We're a month into this new calendar year and facing complications and costs carried over from the end of last year, which means that we will need to make consistent sales, so shares are very much needed and much appreciated.
