On the plus side, the front doors are here. We were going to have them delivered on Monday, but now we're supposed to get snow that afternoon or evening, so we need to have them stained and sealed before it hits. Yours truly doing that part of it.
What was delivered today was actually three pieces: two doors and one frame. That's the frame above, as bare pine.
And here it is again, with the stain on it. All that remains for this is the top and bottom (which will require placing it across sawhorses or something similar) and a couple of very tiny patches on the reverse that I couldn't reach.

The doors themselves are going to be stained the same shade. They're something else; the guy who made them for us is truly a master craftsman (he learned it from his father), and his price was better than a lot of the commercial composition doors of like size.
Below are Wings and Daniel unloading the half that will get the door handle:
I have close-ups of the mortise-and-tenon and other join work, as well as the other detailing. Even as bare pine, they're incredible, but once stained, they'll have a spectacularly traditional look to them (and it will seal them against the elements, which, here, can be powerfully destructive).

It's an amazing bit of work, and we couldn't be happier with it. Tomorrow, though, I have a frame to finish and seal once (it'll need at least three coats of sealant) and two doors to stain front and back and seal at least once (they'll get sealed twice more on Sunday).
So no rest for the wicked. Um, weary. Well, something.
But come Monday, things are going to move fast again. And expensively so. We to make some sales. We need shares, and need them badly:
- Shares of our YouCaring page via the widgets provided, especially the widget code, which has once again been moved back to the purple box at the lower right-hand side of the page, that produces the image shown just below:
- Shares of Wings's site; sales also fund the construction (indeed, they are the baseline for it). Testimonials help.
- I've added Lowe's gift cards to our Amazon wishlist. Those are one of the things we most need, since our materials costs are climbing daily. There's a lot left to buy, unfortunately, and more flooring and interior paint are both on tap for next week, as are lumber, lath, and plaster material locally.
Tomorrow and Sunday will be split between the doors, muck duty, and (I hope), some design time for Wings's newest series, which he's hoping to drop Valentine's Week, give or take. Then it all starts all over again. And, yes, I'm flatly scared. There's too much left to do, and too few resources at this point. So please shares all the links above.
Thanks, everyone.
