This day . . . .

It was completely fucked by 7 AM.

First, to get the ugly out of the way: For those of you who know about/were involved with the upcoming weekend, it's off. No, not for that reason. It's purely logistical, but I can't fight it anymore. There is pooled water on top of the French drain, rather than draining out of it into the pond. There is water backed up into the septic tank itself, the laking seal of which was supposed to have been repaired last week. The flooring that was supposed to be in almost a month ago is STILL not here, and there are no functional facilities. There have been several other logistical nightmares just this week alone, and it's just too much. Nothing until the house is done. I have had my meltdown(s), and as heartsick as I am over all of it, now all I can do is shove everything down as deep as everything else and try to keep going forward, because not one damn thing is ever gonna happen unless and until we get this finished. And I need to get it done in the next two months. There is nothing beyond that; it has to happen.

The small amount of good on the house that came out of today is above. I say small, because compared to the day's destructiveness, it is, but it's still significant. The plaster fuck-up is now completely covered by the right sort of base. Sherm and his guys got here VERY early this morning to beat the heat and the sun, and got the whole front (south) wall done. The guys finally hung the doors, so it's actually starting to look like a house, instead having that godawful tarp in front. It'll be about two weeks before they can do the color coat, so in the meantime, Sherm and one of his guys are going to do the balcony, while Tony and Reynaldo get the rest of the interior doors stained and hung and trimmed, and when the flooring finally shows up (allegedly next week), we get all of that down. They have electrical power to the house no in two of the rooms, so that guys can hook up their power tools without running cords out the windows to the box, and things are slowing moving forward.

It's got to move faster, though, and the money suck is indescribable. Here are the links:
  • Wings's site, for sales;
  • Lowe's cards via our Amazon wishlist;
  • Lowe's cards via the company site; and
  • Home Depot cards via the company site. The e-version using my e-mail address is great; I take the tablet to the store with me, and they scan it off the screen.
I am going to be mostly unavailable for several days. The fact that I'm writing all of this at eleven o'clock at night tells you what my schedule is like right now. I'm also mostly not very up for talking at the moment, not until we make enough progress that I can see that 1) there's actually an end point, and 2) we get to have a life out of it.

  1. No one who knows you would have possibly thought it would have been for 'that reason'. Still, despite all the problems, it is looking a lot more like a house, and glad to here the electric is up in several rooms, and hopefully in the whole house before too much longer.
