Good news, more good news, bad news, unrelated good news edition. Shares needed.

Well, we have Internet access today, at least. Not that we were here to use it; we had to make a quick run down to Santa Fe to pick up a kit that's necessary to the guys' work next week. Here, a "quick trip" is pretty much the whole day, so we haven't been home long, and we're wiped out.

While we were down there. we began spec'ing kitchen stuff, since that's the next big thing. The good news is that we'll be able to order the water heater in the next few days; that's covered now. The other good news is that we have a possibility for cabinets, and better, it's not a major corporation (although it's sold through Home Depot, and thus subject to their sale prices) — it's a private cabinetmaker out of Albuquerque. We'll see. The bad news is that it looks like we may be very screwed on space, because what the former head of the crew assured me were "standard sizes; they're all the same" apparently are very much not. The upshot is that I did some remeasuring when we got home, and it looks like the fridge is NOT going to fit. Anywhere. That was one thing I thought we were saving on, but it seems that we couldn't be that lucky. If we do have to replace it, it'll be with a much smaller model, because we don't need anything big.

I'm mostly gonna repeat what I've been saying: We're so far behind on SO much, and the kitchen is what's biting me now. It's a lot of stress at this point, all the more so after $1,540 out the door for Ice (although on another good news front, we got word today that Miskwaki's labs came back clear), and we need to make sales, badly. We also need shares; the more of the cards we can accumulate, from folks who are willing to donate credit card points, etc., to them, the less cash that will have to be diverted to creating an actual kitchen. So here are the links:
  • Wings's site, for sales;
  • Lowe's cards (the physical version) via our Amazon wishlist;
  • Lowe's e-cards (delivered via e-mail) here; and
  • Home Depot cards via the company site. The e-version using my e-mail address is great; I take the tablet to the store with me, and they scan it off the screen.
I feel like I need to reiterate at this point: Sales are always needed and helpful, because that's our living — both the baseline of the construction and our day-to-day living expenses. But other than that, right now? More than donations, the HD and Lowe's cards are truly the most useful; they free up our cash for things that can't be done any other way. And until we know whether the septic is truly covered or it's going to set us back some more, we need to keep as much cash in reserve as possible. Much gratitude to y'all who've kicked in over the last few days, whether $$ or cards, and love to everyone. I'm too tired to tear my hair out tonight, but we'll see when the crew remeasures all the kitchen stuff again on Monday. I may be bald by Tuesday.
