I meant to post this last night or night before, and I've been so wiped out that I keep forgetting it. You know what that is up there? That's the door to the coat closet. Or the pantry; not sure which is which. Remember all that tongue-and-groove wood that we had for the herringbone ceiling downstairs? Tony and Reynaldo used that to create the two small, oddly-sized doors for the coat closet and the pantry. Right now, they're being kept weighted until Monday, to ensure that the panels hold their shape. On Monday, they'll do some beveling and other detail work, and then start staining and sealing them. The frames are already built, stained, and installed; that's the photo of the pantry door frame that I posted here last night.
Meanwhile, migraine notwithstanding, this is what I spent part of the day on:

That's what all that metallic spongework looks like with the sheer pearlescent white over it. I haven't gotten to the edging yet, obviously; Wings has to hold the ladder for me to be able to do that safely, and he had other stuff to deal with today. That's on tap for tomorrow, as well as a second sponge-off coat of the white.
And it's not as white as it looks; it's actually kind of sheer. The lighting on that wall, late in the day, is in shadow, and the light generally up there at that time of day grays out the metallics on-camera. But here's a better view, with a close-up of the lower reaches of the wall in the stairwell:

It's still kind of gray compared to how it looks in real life, but you can get an idea of how the colors do actually show through. The light fixture we have for that wall? How it'll look against that color combo and finish? It's awesome.
Tomorrow will be a lot more labor for me: finishing this, plus doing the touch-ups in the spare bedroom and my sanctuary at the top of the stairs, so that the guys can have the upstairs all to themselves for the flooring all of next week. We also have to get a bunch of new measurements, and we'll have to make another run down to Home Depot and Lowe's sooner rather than later, because it looks like we really are going to have to deal with the fridge and appliance thing now, like it or not. It's going to be small. The new fridge, I mean.
But it's more expense, and yet another thing to set us back a little on time as well, so we need to make sales, badly. We also need shares; the more of the cards we can accumulate, from folks who are willing to donate credit card points, etc., to them, the less cash that will have to be diverted to creating an actual kitchen. As I said last night, I feel like I need to reiterate at this point: Sales are always needed and helpful, because that's our living — both the baseline of the construction and our day-to-day living expenses. But other than that, right now? More than donations, the HD and Lowe's cards are truly the most useful; they free up our cash for things that can't be done any other way. And until we know whether the septic is truly covered or it's going to set us back some more, we need to keep as much cash in reserve as possible. Much gratitude to y'all who've kicked in over the last few days, whether $$ or cards, and love to everyone. Maybe I'll have some shots of a finished wall tomorrow night. Or not.
