Three starry new works by Wings.

I've been promising these for days, and I finally had a chance to get the descriptions written this morning, so they're all up on the site now: three starry new works by Wings.

There were technically two others, both pairs of earrings like those at the bottom; one pair is a gift he made for me, and the other has a flaw on one edge that, last I knew, he planned to smooth out (or create a new concha in its place). But for the moment, we have one wristband and two new pairs of earrings: conchas, all; stars, all, and they're both beautifully simple and simply beautiful.

First up is the wristband, shown above. Here you can see it from a side angle:

This one is called Sidereal Winds, a reference both to the stars on the conchas and to the inner motif that typically represents the four winds and the sacred directions. It consists of eight sterling silver conchas, all hand-made, with nested star patterns on their domed surfaces. They're strung on flexible saddle-brown leather, cut and beveled by hand and stamped with the same tiny twinkling star symbol at the center of each of the conchas. The closure is via a silver ranger-style buckle set. You can read its full description here.

The second item is a pair of earrings, made from the same conchas as the wristband:

This pair is called The Birth of New Stars, which refers to the nested, almost kaleidoscopic star imagery on the domed surface of each. It's the exact same design as those found on the wristband, but here, the emphasis is on what's newly born at great distance, so old and so far that we see only the faintest light. You can read their full description here.

Finally, the simplest of the three works, a pair of small concha earrings featuring a single stamp on each:

This pair is called The Last Star of Dawn, evoking that brilliant final flash in the sky just before the sun rises. These conchas are also entirely hand-made, and their only adornment is a single strike of that tiny dancing star at the center. Like the pair of earrings above, they hang via jump rings from sterling silver ball-bead French earrings wires (and all fo the silverwork on all three pieces is buffed to a glow perhaps one shade brighter than Florentine). You can read this pair's full description here.

As always, Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact formWe will still need to make consistent sales in this fourth year of pandemic and loss, to say nothing of now having to cover the outrageously high tax burden this country imposes on small non-corporate businesses like ours, so shares of the site links are much appreciated.
