Nesting

It is the nesting season.

I will soon have my own unquiet spirits in need of food and the shelter and safety of this place. 

* Substitute this place for Hunger Road, and the actions of Wings for those of the woman, and you have nonfiction. My father did rip out nests without a second thought, destroying bird families and breaking my heart in the process. Also without a second thought, Wings gave these beautiful small spirits a safe place to raise their young — yet one more among the infinite number of reasons why I love him.
