Friday Feature: The Fires of Day and Night

Photo copyright Aji, 2022; all rights reserved.

It's our Friday Feature at The NDN Silver Blog, with a quartet of related works that share in substance, style, symbol, and spirit. It's an informal series of four rings, manifest as the gifts of the fires of day and night, and of the fires that light our souls and hearts.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. Inquiries via the site's Contact form. We urgently  need to make consistent sales to make it through the rest of this third year of pandemic and loss, and the holiday sales season is now officially under way, so shares of the site links are much appreciated.

So much work yet to be done.

Photo copyright Aji, 2022; all rights reserved.

Brand-new soldering blocks. By which I mean that they were brand-new when he stocked up on them a long time ago. He keeps using them even when they're thoroughly flame-blackened, but when they start getting gouged, they deteriorate pretty rapidly; you have to have a hard flat surface to hold things in place, even with tweezers and vise grips.

And there's so much work yet to be done on them, starting tomorrow. I'm hoping we don't need to leave for any reason over the next three days, at least. I'm so tired, and every time we have to go into town for something, it disrupts the whole day. As I said yesterday, this is already the season of sixteen-hour days (and as I also said, the first month of it is already gone). I will be doing nothing but pushing sales for at least the next six weeks, and I need to make this happen sooner rather than later, because the tax burden won't wait, and there's too much else that needs doing, even as my illness leaves me with less function by the day now.  Which means I need help to get everything covered.

All the links are here; please, share them, too (and there's a new wishlist priority, the automatic composter, which will do wonders for saving on waste and allow Wings to compost the land and trees regularly even through the winter; my physical function is impaired enough now that things can only get done if I have the help of equipment like this):

  • Sales here;
  • Testimonials here;
  • Amazon wishlist here (priorities are, first and foremost, the automatic composter and the wheelbarrow, then the other ladder);
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.

We're still hoping to put aside enough for a new well when the ground thaws enough to drill in the spring, too, Nah, we've given up on the well. No one's available to drill before late next year at the earliest, and this year's tax burden means we would never be able to afford it anyway. But it's even more of a good time to make a purchase, because Uncle Sam is a vindictive colonizer, and my current stress levels about paying it all are off the charts. And there's lots of fabulous work, so please share all of the links.

#ThrowbackThursday: Ordinary Fires Beneath Ordinary Suns

Photo copyright Wings, 2022; all rights reserved.

It's #TBT at The NDN Silver Blog, with a #ThrowbackThursday featured work that dates back a dozen years or so, and to a small informal series of old-style earrings that were simple in style but weighted with meaning. It's a pair of sterling silver slabs stamped freehand in traditional motifs, transforming them into tributes to sacred space and to the power of ordinary fires beneath ordinary suns.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. This work obviously will never be duplicated exactly, but if the style speaks to your spirit, simply inquire via the site's Contact form; Wings can create a version uniquely your own. We urgently need to make consistent sales to make it through the rest of this third year of pandemic and loss, and the holiday sales season is now officially under way, so shares of the site links are much appreciated.

Of Sun and Earth Is Fire Born

Photo copyright Aji, 2022; all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an all-new work by Wings, completed only this afternoon and featuring a jewel in the sunlit shades of the season. It's a dual-strand cuff bracelet built around a focal of tiger iron, its glowing bands reminding us that of sun and earth is fire born, a timeless truth and gift.

Out of order again.

One of the two cuffs, or rather, the stones for the cuffs, currently in the works. In theory, this one will be done today and it'll be the day's feature, so I'm posting things out of order again. This way I get the other stuff off my desk early, and I can get on to the thousand other things still waiting for me. Look for today's NDN Silver post probably mid-afternoon, at a guess.

This is the season of sixteen-hour days, and as I said yesterday, the first month of it is already gone. I will be doing nothing but pushing sales for at least the next six weeks, and I need to make this happen sooner rather than later, because the tax burden won't wait, and there's too much else that needs doing, even as my illness leaves me with less function by the day now.  Which means I need help to get everything covered.

Looks like November.

Photo copyright Aji, 2022; all rights reserved.

Last night's haunted moon. It set just before midnight, turned onto its back, a huge orange half-pumpkin rocking gently to its rest behind the western peaks. Today looks like November, and mostly feels like it: thin clouds webbing the skies, heralding a change in the weather, a brisk wind punctuated by leaf-stripping gusts that belie the unseasonal warmth we have today.

We're supposed to have snow by week's end. We'll see.

I am out of time. The first month of our busiest season, the holiday season, is already gone. I will be doing nothing but pushing sales for at least the next six weeks, and I need to make this happen sooner rather than later, because the tax burden won't wait, and there's too much else that needs doing, even as my illness leaves me with less function by the day now.  Which means I need help to get everything covered.

Red Willow Spirit: A Time to Keep the Fires Burning

Photo copyright Wings, 2022;
all rights reserved.

Now posted at The NDN Silver Blog, it's an edition of Red Willow Spirit for threshold times and sacred spaces, for spirits that walk and forces beyond our control or comprehension. It's a tribute to the flames whose warmth and light keep us and memory alive, reminding us that this is a time to keep the fires burning now.

The post is here. Wings's main page is here. As always, his photos are available in any of the usual three formats; simply inquire via the site's Contact form. We urgently need to make consistent sales to make it through the rest of this third year of pandemic and loss, and the holiday sales season is now officially under way, so shares of the site links are much appreciated.
