Nesting season already. [Click on the photo and look at what's in her beak.] Explains why she's sticking close daily now.
That means, as we suspected, that our usual cycle and pattern (that hasn't been "usual" for 6 years now in a big way, even longer in smaller ways) will not be what we get this year. Again. The best we can do is try to adapt. but it inevitably means [a lot] more work.
So I guess it's a good thing that, since my newest temporary dance with death 4 mornings ago, I'm finally sleeping for more minutes at a stretch. Still not good, still nowhere near real sleep, and no diminution of the pain, but Thursday was physically the best day, hands-down, I've had in months. SAid episode also apparently brought me the information I needed (more mis- and under-DXs), and I'm taking the one major drastic step required right now. Three days in, and I can see some outwardly visible changes already. I have an incredibly long haul ahead of me, though, just on this one front (to say nothing of all the others), and it's going to be a hard one.
It's going to be expensive, too. And that's on top of everything else right now: the extra bills this month, the drop in my Patreon (a loss of $100 in subscriptions, which folks kindly informed me in advance would be coming, so I was prepared for that; just shy of $300 in folks who have NOT paid for their December access and have not unsubscribed, either, so that's a big hit for us to absorb). Helping two different folks out by buying wood (which we will always use, and they needed it now, but it's still a hit). And then there was the spaying/neutering for the pups.
It wound up being something like $235+ for Sunny, probably because he was over 50 pounds and she was under. At any rate, within the last week, we've had to shell out $225 for Stormy's spaying, $235 for Sunny's neutering, $40 for my remaining scrip. I've also paid all the usual bills, plus two insurance premiums, and all told, I will need to make up about $2 grand with sales, so I need to get to work on that.
And the last week-plus has been brutal on other fronts. I have had to justify my humanity repeatedly and be told that it's not enough, and I am done. No more. I don't care; I'm done. I'm so tired, in ways people who don't deal with my health issues will never understand anyway, and dealing with another episode of nearly dying two mornings ago is going to be with me for a while, physically and mentally both. And I have to get back to my own work, back to making masks for folks, and most of all, back to making sales, which are at record lows. There is no economy now. There's nothing. People are literally dying all around us from the government's failures, and I don't know how we keep them, or us, alive unless I can cover the bills. We have lost SO much to 2020, so very, very many people, and the gifts and the talents and the knowledge and the wisdom they carried too often lost with them. Because this state has followed the lead of the country and refused to do what was required, we are about to see a very big spike in new cases, probably as early as two weeks from now; the current spike in deaths remains sustained daily. People have needed so much more help than we could give them, but we did as much as we could, even when it put us in a bind, and we will need to do much more of that this year. So:
And if you've been contemplating a purchase? Marking the birth of 2021 would be a very, very good time to do it. There's even new work, here and here, and there will be two more new pieces shortly, so please watch for them and share the links.
