Hope is a stubborn thing.

Finally, some golden branches on the weeping willows. These are new, healthy branches, full of buds, and that perfect golden shade that, in the light of the setting sun, looks like gilded rain. I was up in the north field the other evening, and it looks as though all four of those, have at least a few new limbs. Whether they'll survive the ravages of record drought, aridification, and climate collapse is another matter entirely.

But today is the first day of official spring, at least by colonial calendars, and hope is a stubborn thing.

Stubborn on all fronts, actually. I got a little sleep last night, finally, and despite my pain levels being somewhere north of the stratosphere, I'm slowly getting through things that need doing. Nowhere near caught up, of course, but progress is progress.

We also made one sale this morning, so that's cause for hope, too. I need to sell a lot more than that, of course, to cover everything we're going to have to cover these next couple of weeks. We still have to get the well guy out here. I still have to get those damn taxes organized and submitted, and, of course, paid, and this year has already been so damn costly [following on a hugely expensive year last year that was perhaps our worst sales year ever]. And I've resented them a lot in my life, but never so much as I do right this moment. But there's no choice in the matter, which means chasing sales to cover it all. So now would be a really, really good time to buy, because I really, really need to bring in some income this week. We're out of time.
