Spectacularly awful.

[NOTE:  This post was written on Tuesday, March 18th, 2025. We lost Internet service in the early afternoon, and all power five minutes later. After three and a half hours, power was restored, but Internet service was not restored until after midnight on Wednesday. This is Tuesday's post, nonetheless.]

That's dust AND snow. We had it all today, and not in a good way.

Some days [and nights] just suck.

This one’s been spectacularly awful.

We knew it would be, with 70-mph wind gusts in the forecast. And I suspect that we would lose power and internet, and sure enough, Indian Killer Utility obliged. We got power back around 6 PM, but the Internet’s still fucked, and no idea when it will be untucked [after midnight, as it turns out], because not only do they refuse to tell anyone anything on their site, they don’t even post their outage maps properly, so I have no reason to think it will improve anytime soon. One of the points of fiber-optic service is that the lines are supposed to be buried. Are they? Of course not. And. They piggyback, in all apparent violation of state public service regs, on other utilities’ backbones, and what they call redundancy is NOT remotely redundancy [I know, my ex was an IT gearhead who worked on exactly those things for Y2K, and I spent long hours listening to how it’s done, and believe me, this is NOT redundancy].

So this are just the obvious things. On top of that, there’s the constant unrelenting [worsening] pain, and days like this are the worst, because the wind is the worst weather condition for it. It’s agonizing, nothing works, nothing takes the edge off, and then, of course, I don’t sleep because of pain [like now, which is why I'm up doing this at 3 AM] and so the lack of rest makes the pain worse, and it’s just an endless fucking cycle. Then there’s the tax shit bearing down on me, and the constant interruptions that don’t let me get anything done; there’s the well pump failing daily; there’s the endless stream of need from people we can’t refuse, and I am at my wits’ fucking end.

And then there’s this murderous, genocidal colonizer “administration,” which today yanked $2.8 million in funding from one of the biggest food bank successes this region has ever seen. Done. Gone. ::Snaps fingers:: just like that. The Food Depot, which serves pretty much all the northern New Mexico food banks AND is as the go-between between them and the farmers and ranchers and growers, the funding allowing those latter groups to give a portion of their yield every year to the food banks so that people don’t go hungry.  So both sides of the equation are fucked, all because Trump and Elon hate everyone not a rich white cishet colonizer male. Also, we have probably well upwards of a thousand families [that’s over 1,000, and that’s families, not individuals] in the county who depend on these food banks just to eat.  The is not “food insecurity,” It’s fucking HUNGER, and these Nazi pieces of absolute shit just made it a hell of a lot worse. I lost a lot of time early, before everything crapped out, trying to get a handle on that shit locally, which is a big eason why I didn't have my own work done before everything went to hell completely.

And then there's all the rest. We still have to get the well guy out here. But I also still have to get our taxes organized and submitted, and, of course, paid, and this year has already been so damn costly [following on a hugely expensive year last year that was perhaps our worst sales year ever]. We don't have remotely enough to cover any of it, and if I don't bring in several very fast [or one or two big ones, whatever], I don't know what I'm going to do.

For now, though, we need to sell yesterday's new earrings, and a lot more besides. Now would be a really, really good time to buy, because I really, really need to bring in some income this week. We're out of time.

  • Sales here
  • Testimonials here
  • Amazon wishlist here (Priorities are Amazon gift cars, which we can ALWAY use, and those adjustable Black KN95 masks are badly needed, because I gave away all the rest of ours to relatives; it would good to have several boxes, so I can keep handing them out, too);
  • Patreon here;
  • Ko-fi here.

After such a grim year last year, and this one beginning at least as badly, we urgently need to move 2025 onto a better footing before taxes take every last cent, so please share all of the links.
